I've got a chance at some older mp-14 that look in decent condition with s200 shafts for 90+ shipping. Does that sound like a good deal?

Quick responses appreciated.

*IF* they suit you and *IF* they are in good condition, I would say the price is right...but those are big ifs.

*IF*

Well I can't really answer either of those because I've never hit them and I can only see so much condition on eBay. I'm tyring to get into some blades to make be a better player etc etc etc

Is this a practice set or a playing for scores set?

What I'm looking for are a low handicap oriented set to practice with and

hopefully eventually turn into a scores set.

I think so if they are standard length and lie angle and you are reasonably standard height and build player. Sometimes good deals are odd lengths or/or lie angles which is great if you actually know exactly what you need.

not sure if this was adressed yet, but for me, blades are harder to hit simply do to the size of the sweet spot relative to the golf ball. There is seriouly no room for error. a Shot hit on the heel or toe will sting your hands with instant feedback. I've tried several forged and cavity back irons, but i'm back to titleist blades now.

i will likely never play anything else. for me, aesthetics are also key. blades are just pretty to look at and this actually helps my confidence.

As of recently the only major brand that still makes a cast blade is Ping. So finding a forged blade won't be that difficult. Trust me you'll know the difference between a cast a quality forged iron.

Umm, no you won't.

Numerous studies have shown that its virtually impossible to actually feel the difference in your hands between a good cast or forged stick. Now you'll feel a difference between a blade or cavity back. But two quality blades, one forged and one cast will feel the same.

I agree it think the cast vs forged argument was once commonly accepted but with newer and refined technology it is much more difficult to tell, and most (myself included) simply can't.

It's a good deal, and those were THE clubs back in the day (10 years ago) - with the caveats other mentioned (length/lie shaft etc.)

But what's the rush? It's coming into winter time. Again, I recommend going to a shop and hitting a few to see if you like one better than another, then pick some out. If you are just looking for blades for blades' sake, then the MP-14's you're looking at are as good (or better) than any. Reif

No rush really, just want to get something challenging so I can better myself. There's also a good chance that if I wait until spring I'd be paying more for the same clubs.

Looks like my friend is going to straight up sell me his set of mp-32s. I'd put them in 7/10 condition. No major dings, pretty good grips. Just bag clatter and some face wear.

What should I pay?

No more than $250. If your friend thinks your crazy, just go to ebay. You'll see lots of them for that price.

    • That was a good watch. When I started working on pelvis in the backswing. I thought, this sounds contradictory to those leg straightening threads on the site. Erik has already done a correction. Then the last lesson we went more down the route of feeling the right knee gains flex. It doesn’t, but the feeling keeps my knee position in a good range. Also, I just realized how much extra work my right hip needed to do to stabilize the body with the proper weight shift. Those glute and hip stabilizers got worked. 🤣 I wish this evolution in the golf instruction happened 20 years ago! 😭

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: squirt to the right due to to much arm not enough turn. • The first issue Erik spoke about is something we worked on for my swing during both GEARS sessions. GEARS was showing my pelvis center moving towards the ball during the back swing. I wasn’t the 4” guy though! This forced me to correct on the downswing to give myself space. My hip rotation was to high as well. We corrected it by first getting the weight off my heels in my stance and getting my posture correct. Then the feel was shifting back into my right hip at a 45 degree angle. This kept my pelvis center from moving towards the ball at the start of the backswing. I also didn’t sway back as much as I felt I did because of the angle I was shifting. Feel Ain’t Real. The cool thing about GEARS is as you work on something you can see the exact (Real) change happening. On video, it is much harder to spot this issue because of the 2D nature of filming. But I know what to look for now. Sadly, I was hurt all last year and most of this year so I really haven’t been able to work on it much. I did do a lot of backswing work though.
