I'm looking for golf stats similar to the ones mentioned on Golf Digest where it gives the averages for a pro, tour avg, 10 handicap, and 20 handicap.

So far I have Fairways hit, GIR, Scramble and 3 Putt Avoidance. I'd really like to find Sand saves, Putts per hole or Putts per round, Putts per GIR, and penalties per round.

Here's the one from Golf Digest.

Really??? I am just a little confused as to how you can have almost 100 posts in this forum and not know, at the very least, that Scorecard does all of this. If you are looking to save the $30 and trying to find something for FREE good luck because I haven't found anything nearly as good as Scorecard. I have resorted to using Excel to start doing all of the above calculations ... it's a pain, and I will probably invest the $30 for next season; but, since it is the end of September and it's almost time to put the sticks away for the season I just don't want to spend the money at this late point in the season ...

That's a very insightful article. I use Teeshots on my iphone to track my stats and it does a good job giving me all of the stats from the article.

I also wouldn't be too worried about the "putts per ___" right now, even though I know mine, I think it's overly hyped stat. How your iron and short game is really skews this number IMO. Hank's 3 putt avoidance should give a 20 handicapper enough info to improve.

I think he's looking for a comprehensive chart that shows the average stats for each handicap level, in particular sand saves, putts per GIR, penalties, etc. I'm guessing he's already keeping track of his own stats, whether it be with scorecard or other software, and he wants to see how he compares to the average 20 handicapper.

Yeah, that's my question. I don't think he's looking to keep track of his own stats... just to see where he falls.

I'm not big into pre-announcing things, but this is tentatively planned for Scorecard version 2.0 (along with some other Web integration).

Yeah I understood his question, I was just merely commenting on the content of the article and what I use to track stats... I suppose I was a little off topic.

Bingo! Sorry but this is the first chance I've had to check back on the post. I've been keeping my own detailed stats for over a year now. I'm well aware of Scorecard and it looks very cool but I'm also a little bit of an Excel geek and like to make things on my own.

So as Mev mentioned, I'd like to compare my stats to people in my own handicap. I've set my stats up so the comparison changes dependent on what your handicap is. So I'm looking for some more data besides the ones I have.

    • Interesting changes. The idea of relegation and promotion have always been there in a different form (getting and losing your card etc and qualifying for bigger events) but it looks like they want to define it better for top tier events. The Tour has always had A and B level events (and even lower). It will be interesting what they choose as the Challenger Series events and whether some tournaments go to the Challenger Series that used to be prestigious. Not sure how the networks will take to this knowing they have “Challenger” Series events defined that way now. Also, I’m not happy that John Henry and Theo Epstein are involved. Look what Henry has done to the Red Sox.
