I have a Scotty Cameron LaCosta that I use 3 or 4 times a week. It was in storage for about 10 years but now back in service. Should I oil the putter head to maintain its finish? If so, what should or shouldn't I use? The pro at my club that he had a freiend who had one and put something on it that removed the black finish.

WD-40 or get yourself a gun cloth at walmart.

for my gamer I keep the gun cloth in the headcover. it helps keep it dry and is helpfull if you forget to wipe it down at the end of the round

I've read in several posts and forums that WD-40 is NOT the way to go. Go with an all Silicone spray, and coat your putter with that before and after rounds. Even spray some in your headcover if you like. Avoid moisture at all costs, that means wipe it off!

If it is not as shiny as you once remembered, go with the MAAS metal polishing or Brasso (for inserts) to give it that glare again.

I believe the instructions that came with my father's TE3 Sante Fe said to use baby oil.

Check the Scotty Cameron webpage under putter care.....he tells you how there.
