Besides the Titleist 695CB, what are some other irons that have a low launch design? Name brands or custom clubs doesn't matter to me.

Doesn't look like I'm going to be able to get the ball flight down on these Ping G10's. I've run out of options trying 6 shafts and balls. Except for the new e7+ from Bridgestone due out later this month. I have my hopes up on the e7+. I have lowered it quite a bit with DGS300 shafts, D4 SW, 2*stronger lofts, and low spin ball, e6+. However, it is still too high for me to play in the wind. Hitting knockdown shots is a chore with the G10. At least for me they are. I find it almost impossible to hit a knockdown low enough to get through 15mph wind. I'm having to club up like 3 clubs and try and hit 150 yd shots with 5 iron. It's kind of fun, but I'm playing on am tour and trying to score my best. Both the Mizuno's and Titleist 695CB's I've owned, were easing to club up 1 and knock it down.

So I'm looking at clubheads for help. Prefer the most forgiving I can get with a low launch.

695CB's had a good trajectory that I was happy with. I struggled hitting them consistently though, and thought I would try something more forgiving in the G10. Much more consistent with the G10's, just hit them too high. On windy days I'm pretty much missing every green. My 4 irons look like 7 irons. I actually backed up a 4 iron 2 ft on a level green last week. WITH AN e6+!!! That is too high. If I could just hit a knockdown I would be freaking happy with them.

Anyhow, what I would like is an iron that has generous offset, wide sole, (I know these attributes are a part of the reason for the extra height, the other being my impact position), BUT with a high center of gravity instead of low.

Also, how much weight would it take in that Custom Tuning Port to be able to lower the ball flight? 30, 40, 50 grams????

Thanks

Maybe try the i10's or the S57's, they both have lower ball flight and they are still forgiving. And have you tried Project X shafts, as I believe they have a higher kick point then DG's.

Here's what I play:

Yep, Project X 6.0 was actually higher trajectory than DGS300 for me. Black Gold's same deal.Tried Nippon NS Pro Super Peening Blue, tried DGX100, tried a few graphite shafts too. The Nippon was the lowest, but not that much difference over the DG. Anyhow, I'm done trying shafts. None of them lowered it enough to change the situation any.

Didn't try Tour Contour or S400, however I'm convinced they would peform close to the previous one's.

Unfortunately, the lower the ball flight the less forgiving the club, basically. Look for somewhat forgiving irons that are not considered Game improvement or super game improvement. Ping i-10, Titleist AP2, TaylorMade Tour Preferred, Callaway X forged or x 20 tour, irons like that are still somewhat forgiving yet are workable. Basically cavity back irons for good players.

As far as shafts I have had a good results lowering ball flight with project x shafts.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
