Let me see if I get this straight. Clubs that are hard to hit will make you a better ball striker(?). Then why aren't we still playing with persimmon drivers?

It's not really the same thing. I'm not saying blades will make you a better ball striker but I can see the argument. Playing blades forces you to make a consistent swing because there is less room for error. With a driver there is typically less of a need to work the ball as much and your not trying to hit a shot with the same precision as you are with irons. I think people put blades up on this pedestal like you need your tour card just to touch them, but if someone is comfortable playing them and plays often enough that their swing is consistent then I really don't see what the big deal is.

Mizuno mp-30 or mp-60 are great better player irons. Excellent feel and look. Can't go wrong with mizuno.

I'm looking at the titleist forged cavity-muscle set. Its like 3-5 cavity 6 and 7 are like mid and 8 9 PW are full blade, I'd probably like the whole set of blades, but am leaning towads whatever is cheaper. Also i really want the rifle 6.0 flighted, but the S300 seems so much cheaper and I hit them about the same the 6.0 just feels better. Still don't know. I'll trade my irons and cash for some ZBs if someone wants a downgrade.

Well, after buying some new Mizuno MP-67s last week, I can speak at least towards the beginning frustration of switching from CBs to blades. I learned to play golf with blades, then went to CB, now I have the Mizzys.

I have always considered myself a good ball striker. These clubs speak to the contrary. The short irons are great, I'm glad to be able to have a more subtle control of trajectory. I'm starting to get a little more used to the long irons, but mis-hits still happen, and I'm about a half-club shorter than the old DCIs. But I'm committed, and I get a lot of practice time.

But to anybody who is considering getting blades to step up their game, prepare to be discouraged when you switch. Probably the reason why a lot of these end up on E-Bay.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
