looking for golf venue near london

hello guys,

this thread is aimed at people near london in the uk.

i am from scotland and dont really know many courses down london way, i am trying to find a golf course to launch longdriveseries but it has to be near london.

This will feature Radio 1 DJ european longdrive record holder, current european champion and the european number 1, as well as former senior world longdrive champion as they are travelling in from abroad the only real option is a course or range near london - ideally with a hotel - i was looking at stoke park and something like that would be useful.

What is required?

Course or range with LONG (400yards plus) open space - with associated hotel complex

there will be a driving and trickshot demo put on, 1 to 1 lessons with the longdrivers.

Ceremonial tee shot with representatives from 3 different charities hitting tee shots.

If you have any suggestions please let me know, even better if you own a golf course with a stately home!

Date is to be confirmed but is likely to be 3rd week in november.

Hello I am from just outside London in Hertfordshire. You will find it difficult to find a golf course within London but there are many big courses in surrounding counties. Try places such as Brocket Hall, the Oxfordshire and the London Golf Club.

If you need any further suggestions please let me know!

thanks for the reply,

i basically have criterea of

easy to get to from international airports
on course accomodation
and of course enough ground to let these guys hit there drivers

i appreciate the list of names and will keep a note - i would be grateful for any other suggestions from members of the forum

i am really looking for members of these clubs to give me a shout as i need someone with good knowledge of the course to fill me in so i can contact the clubs direct - and of course members of specific clubs are likely to be able to guage whether it is feasable or not at their particular club.

      Day 26: Did full swing practice after work. First 15 balls were working on top of the backswing feel, and then tried to incorporate transition feel into the next 15 balls. A's, although this will be my last season of being a fan as they leave for Las Vegas (by way of Sacramento for a few seasons). Hard to see myself rooting for the Giants, but if that's the only MLB in the Bay Area, I guess I might get on board.

      My two cents? Don't. As a beginner that's interested in learning about the golf swing, you'll find yourself consuming a lot of information, most of which isn't even relevant to your own swing. You need to learn you can't think your way to a good golf swing. Focus on the one thing that you're working on and doing that on every swing, come what may. And remember, mishits happen.

      Day 6 (7 May 24) - More work in the backyard focused on tempo in addition to setup.  Worked with 6 and 7 irons hitting hard foam balls - used the old MacGregor irons to mix it up a little.

      No! lol. But they have to be in the right sequence to play mid-handicap golf or little better. Mostly. And even in that there is range/margin for error in the motions and positions that most normal humans can handle. It helps if you have a decent idea of how a golf club moves around the body like you would any other equipment sports (baseball and hockey might be the closest) After all, fairways are 40 yards wide. Don't overthink it. Be diligent in getting basics right. I will concede that it is harder than it sounds but it certainly is not exact angle/exact position/exact degree of bend/exact speed/exact facial expression, etc, every.... single.... time or the result is horrible death.
