Well worth reading .

Buckley is of course the son of the one and only William F. Buckley.

He joins such conservatives as Lincoln Chaffee , Susan Eisenhower , Julie Nixon Eisenhower , Jim Leach , Larry Hunter , Chuck Hagel's wife, Lilibet , Wick Allison (former publisher of the National Review), Former Republican Gov. of VA, Linwood Holton , former legal council to Reagan and Bush (41) and head of the "Romney for Pres. committee on the Courts & Constitution, Doug Kmiec and others.

immts007,

You're a brave man posting pro-Obama links in this forum. You might as well put on a yarmulke (that's a jewish beanie for the unmatriculated) in downtown Baghdad!

That said, you'll be glad to know I went out to dinner last week with a Republican couple we are friends with and they converted too. Their exact words were "there's no WAY we're voting for McCain. He's completely out of touch".

Considering how hostile the McCain campaign has become lately to the "Georgetown cocktail party elite," the endorsement of the son of conservatism's preeminent intellectual for Obama is no surprise. He jokes about how his parents would cut off his allowance if they were still alive, but I'd guess Dad would be showing serious inclinations against the Republican ticket, just as George Will has.

I read the article. Christopher is not his father and that he brought it up rankles me. His father provided more advantages to him and I suspect that Chris never has really seen how the "real people live." And, yes, I wish his father were alive to take away his inheritance. I place him the the media elite category trying to play both sides of the fence... trying to protect his arse.

>>"So, I wish him (Obama) all the best. We are all in this together. Necessity is the mother of bipartisanship. And so, for the first time in my life, I’ll be pulling the Democratic lever in November. As the saying goes, God save the United States of America.">> It's not God that is going to save America, it's us. And, if you think the Democrats will save this country with their brand of bipartisanship leadership, then you are sadly mistaken. It's obvious that you haven't been paying close attention to the abismal approval ratings of both Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd... they have done more to bring this country to its knees than the Republicans. And, if you think the government is going to bail us out of this you're mistaken again. $700 Billion... I hear that it takes $1.30 of private industry money to create growth whereas it takes the government $7.70. Talk about waste and corruption. Most of the members of this forum don't know what inflation and economic challenges are (this is probably their first one). The early 70s, gas lines, stock crash, inflation, job losses... early 80s... high unemployment and interest rates as high as 20%. The crash of '87. If you're under 43 years old chances are you've never really remembered or experienced anything like this before. I've lived through them all and this situation will settle down and get back to normal. Cut back, live within your means, do without something and serve those who need it. This present crisis was founded in Democrats trying to make credit available to those who were not credit worthy -- pure and simple. When that happened, opportunists jumped in like foxes with the keys to the chicken coop. Obama and his cronies took advantage of it as did others; however, I don't hear the outrage for those that brought down Fanny and Freddie Mac...the very same crooks that are plotting Obama's rise to power. It's not as Christopher says, "God save the United States of America." It's, God help us all if Barack Hussein Obama and the Democrats win the election. As an Independent, I'm pulling the Republican bar this year in hopes that the Democrats can be stopped with their socialist agenda. Yeah, McCain wasn't my first pick but... he is not BHO!

Why thank you... There was nothing racist in the statement and you know it. That you can only construe it as racist tells me how clever you think you are. I suppose that comes from inexperience.

he can't lose... no one will touch him. he exists in a world of double standards and I'm sorry to say but if he were a white male he would have lost the election a long time ago

it it had came out the McCain attended a church, mind you for over 20 years, that preached anti-semitic and racist propaganda he would be chased out of the race within 12 hours... but with Obama... "we" don't understand their culture... because they are "oppresed" and its simply "passion from the pulpit"... but Palin is considered the daughter of satan for her church feeling that prayer can "cure" homosexuality (which is just crazy to even think people believe something like that)

I'm not racists in any way... I'm just calling it how I see it and tired of politically correct people who feel that if they say they don't like Obama they fear people will assume they are racist.

DDBowdoin, I'm not trying to be confrontational, but I've reviewed all the publicly available materials, sermons, etc... by Jeremiah Wright. I haven't found any anti-semitism or racism. I HAVE found some very incendiary political speech. Can you point me to some specific examples of racism?

For the sake of clarity, racism is defined as:
  1. The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others.
  2. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.

"Barack knows what it means living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people. Hillary would never know that. Hillary ain’t never been called a nigger. Hillary has never had a people defined as a non-person.”

That's racism... assuming that because I'm white I disciminate against people of color

“In the 21st century, white America got a wake-up call after 9/11/01. White America and the western world came to realize that people of color had not gone away, faded into the woodwork or just ‘disappeared’ as the Great White West kept on its merry way of ignoring black concerns.”

Using his middle name is a weak GOP talking point used to point out "he isn't like you and me" ... and YOU know it.

Pleading ignorance by using the Pat Buchanan excuse "What? I'm just saying his full given name" insults the intelligence of everyone on this board and only further diminishes your arguments.

People that say using his middle name is racist is simply hiding behind the truth.

His name is very poplular around the world... but not here. It is ok to see a difference... hell that is why people want the moron elected... simply because he is different.

Most staunch dems want him elected because they are under the belief Bush ruined the economy. As a realtor I can tell you Clinton was the one that was taking the huge payouts from Freddie and Fannie to loosen lending restrictions. The downfall started long before Bush... but most refuse to admit it. Just like most call a duck a duck about Obama about his middle name.

I used to really have a ton of respect for McCain for not only his politics but for his war efforts, etc...and I still do(for the war effort, and hero). But the politics part has really taken a huge hit from me. I really like Obama because I believe Obama actually has PLANS. Whether or not they'll work remains to be seen. But at least I feel like Obama is TRYING to move the country in another direction; I don't see that AT ALL with McCain.

Plus the way the McCain camp. has been acting lately, I could care less for them.

    • I have been debating getting a launch monitor of some sort, if only so I can re-figure my shot zones (I haven't actually mapped them in years) and also to practice distance wedges at home.  I have to see if this works with either my current setup, or what my setup would be if I move it to the garage.
    • Day 48, June 23.  After work today, I took 25 minutes in my practice room;  6-iron, same everything as yesterday except the time and count.
    • Well, this is interesting.  I think we discovered a few months ago that I haven't been following professional golf in a while (my confusion about Scotty's footwork confirmed that), so at least as I aim to follow a bit more I'll get something new to learn with all of you.  My very quick read of Erik's summary makes me think this new Challenger series fits somewhere between Korn Ferry and the Championship (not Champions, but I know I'm going to make that mistake a few times if I'm not careful!).   My recollection is that there were already second-tier events among the PGA Tour;  the Bob Hope didn't have the same quality of field as the event at Riviera (whose current name I forget, although now that I say that, I realize the Palm Springs event hasn't been called the Bob Hope in a few years either).   With the absence of the FedEx (if I'm reading that correctly), does that mean no more FedEx Cup at all? Hopefully I'll have time later in 2026 to sit down and see what we're in for in 2027, where one of my goals already is to follow more professional golf.
    • The highlights as I see them: Championship and Challenger Series The creation of the PGA Tour and the PGB Tour, in the words of Joel Dahmen a few years ago. They're calling them the Championship Series (23-24 events) and the Challenger Series (20+ events). Both run February to August. They feel this will achieve three things: increasing the consistency and quality of fields across the season creating a clear system for players to earn and retain status and delivering a more structured and competitive experience for fans and partners—all in an effort to strengthen meritocracy. Championship Series Structure and Eligibility The 23-24 events includes the Players, majors, season-ending events, and the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup. These will be 72-hole events with a 36-hole cut to the top 65 and ties and purses of $20M+. 120 players without an alternate list. 90 players (roughly) from the previous year and 20 players promoted from the Challenger Series. Full eligibility will be finalized later this year. Sites (cities) to be finalized soon, but 10 of the 15 courses have already been determined. Postseason: includes retention and relegation and concludes with match play. The Tour Championship will also be played across a rotation of prestigious courses. Challenger Series Structure and Eligibility 20+ events. Running concurrently. Will feature players fighting their way back to the Championship Series or players graduating and on the upswing from the Korn Ferry Tour. Many of these events will be current PGA Tour courses. About 7 of the Challenger Series events will be during off weeks for the Championship Series with elevated purses and visibility. Purses of at least $4M, with cuts similar to the Champ series. 144 player fields. Competitive Fields for Both Series Players will be eligible for only one series at a time: Championship Series Players are not eligible for Challenger Series events. Championship Series members will have a known schedule with all events having the same eligibility. Players and Majors will have their own eligibility criteria. Championship Series players don't have to play all events. This begs the question about, say, the Canadian Open, and other "home-town" events that players might want to play, even if they're Challenger Series events. Will releases be granted? Promotion and Relegation At least 90 players will be retained in the Championship Series, and 20 players will be promoted from the Challenger Series each year. Battlefield promotion for two-time winners from the Challenger Series. Players relegated from the Championship Series will have a "last chance" opportunity to retain status, or will go to the Challenger Series. Criteria will be finalized before the start of the 2027 season. Points System New points system (not FedExCup points). Separate points systems for the Championship and Challenger Series. Elevated points in the Challenger Series for off-weeks on the Championship Series. More details tk. Elevated International Events in the Fall The fall schedule will include a limited series of elevated international events with top players from the Championship Series, with the intent to deliver in partnership with the DP World Tour as part of the Strategic Alliance. Last Chance Series The Tour will develop a “last chance” series of 4-6 events in the fall, with a limited number of spots on the Championship Series available for top finishers. Eligibility will include players relegated from the Championship Series, Challenger Series players, and other categories to be determined. Q-School continues, as do the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Latinoamerica. Also, Brian Rolapp is the new commissioner as of January 1, 2027.
