I wish Ping made a REAL blade iron set. I love their clubs. Maybe someone can enlighten me on this. I know the S59 tour is nice but it still looks offset and its not forged.

Bummer. Id love to try their smallest iron for a round....

If you look at the specs (seeting aside that they are not forged and do have a very small cavity back) the S57's are basically a blade...their offsets are less then the Titelist ZB blended iron set...I hit an S57 while trying to decide which irons I wanted to go to and though I choose the

ZM 's I actually like the S57 very much as they were very forgiving for a blade type iron but I just set up better to the Titleist. I personally do not see PING ever mass producing a forged iron...but hey you never know???

the i3 blades weren't bad...but I can't see them making a forged blade either..

Ping has always made cast irons and done a pretty good job doing so, so I don't see why they'd want to change what works for them.

Oh yeah how did I forget about the i3 blades...there are quite a few Pro's still playing those...I guess I was thinking about what is available currently to the public off the shelf...

I don't think they'll do a "real blade" in the sense that they'll not produce forged irons. I have played the S59 Tours for the last ~4 years and I can really vouch for them. The offset is really minimal all the way through the set. They set up very nicely, topline is pretty thin, traditional size etc. Decent feel but I have to admit, I do prefer the 1025Ms I've reverted to for feel, spin and trajectory - they hit slightly higher than the S59s.

Pings major market is irons for the average player just like titleist is targeted towards low handicappers. They probably will never make a true muscleback.

I just switched from the

i3 Blade to the ZM. I loved the i3 Blades and it took a great muscleback iron to get them out of my bag. I did keep them though so I always have the option of playing them again. They are a great iron, a true "player's cavity back". I agree though, I don't see straying from their base. They will continue to focus on cast GI irons as they always have. There is nothing wrong with that either. Just like and don't spend much (if any) time targeting the 20 handicapper, doesn't spend much (if any) time targeting the +4 handicapper.

They might make a forged iron, you can tell they are sraying away from casting everything because the new redwood putters are milled.

    • That was a good watch. When I started working on pelvis in the backswing. I thought, this sounds contradictory to those leg straightening threads on the site. Erik has already done a correction. Then the last lesson we went more down the route of feeling the right knee gains flex. It doesn’t, but the feeling keeps my knee position in a good range. Also, I just realized how much extra work my right hip needed to do to stabilize the body with the proper weight shift. Those glute and hip stabilizers got worked. 🤣 I wish this evolution in the golf instruction happened 20 years ago! 😭

The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: squirt to the right due to to much arm not enough turn. • The first issue Erik spoke about is something we worked on for my swing during both GEARS sessions. GEARS was showing my pelvis center moving towards the ball during the back swing. I wasn’t the 4” guy though! This forced me to correct on the downswing to give myself space. My hip rotation was to high as well. We corrected it by first getting the weight off my heels in my stance and getting my posture correct. Then the feel was shifting back into my right hip at a 45 degree angle. This kept my pelvis center from moving towards the ball at the start of the backswing. I also didn’t sway back as much as I felt I did because of the angle I was shifting. Feel Ain’t Real. The cool thing about GEARS is as you work on something you can see the exact (Real) change happening. On video, it is much harder to spot this issue because of the 2D nature of filming. But I know what to look for now. Sadly, I was hurt all last year and most of this year so I really haven’t been able to work on it much. I did do a lot of backswing work though.
