If you play on a golf team, do you use have a team fitness prog.?

I am a junior in high school and have been going to the weight room since the last quarter of my freshman year. I have been going to get my strength and stamina up. I DON'T do any bench pressing or clean lifts because I know that it could hurt my golf swing. I focus more on using the bigger muscles (shoulders, legs, core) and have been successful so far. I watch football players work out and see that they build good team chemistry and motivation. My team doesn't work out and we are a decent team, but I want to get to become a competitive team and compete. How many teams use a weight room/gym and have seen results from using it?????? Should I try to start something? What if the team doesn't buy into it???

honestly if you want your team to ba able to compete get there butts out on the practice green for 3 hours a day. I play for a very good hs team(state champs missed by 1 stroke) and every one on my team plays other sports where they have to do stuff like that(lifting etc.). Have them play more because muscles are not much in golf.

What if only one or two play a winter sport and I don't see them lifting with their teammates. Not many of them are active and have more important social lives.
