It seems like that infomercial is on all the time, doesn't it? I've never used it, but it looks like the biggest load of BS I've ever seen. Its some sort of copper-coil that you wear as a necklace. If it works at all its probably because the wearer thinks its some sort of "magic pill" and they find it as some sort of source of confidence.

I was given a Q-Link at this year's PGA Show. I've worn it for golf and around the office. I don't know how to say whether it really makes any difference. I felt relaxed wearing it on the golf course, but then again I was playing with friends on a sunny day. I would hope I would feel relaxed!

The Q-Link folks say that it is supposed to actually work better in congested, office-type settings. It's supposed to offset the effects of radiation from computer monitors, cell phone radiation, etc. Again, I don't know how to quantify whether it works or not. And no one at Q-Link really gave me a good explanation of how it does whatever it's supposed to do. I know it has something like 40 yards of copper and some sort of microchip inside. Doing what? Should I have a tinfoil hat, too?

My bottom line: I wouldn't shell out big bucks for one. But since I have one, I would probably throw it on to play golf. Even if the effects are psychosomatic, every little bit helps.

    • Interesting that it's no penalty, but then again, I can't imagine someone would purposefully put their foot out there in this situation or one like it.  And then there was the time someone purposefully deflected his own ball during a major, but that's very different too. The only time I can recall a ball I hit hitting another player or their equipment was ages ago -- over a decade and a half ago.  I had a 3' putt for an 89 and someone (a random pairing, not someone I knew) decided it was a good time for goaltending practice.  That wouldn't fall under this rule, though (and it wasn't in a tournament anyway). Thanks for continuing to share these, Dave!  I always find these interesting.
    • Day 51 (29 Apr 26) - Worked with a few of the golf team kids plus my grandson (he’s too young for the team as it’s middle-high school age and he’ll be 10 Sat).  He put on a small hitting clinic (hitting off the same tees as the rest of the boys) - one of the older kids called him a “coach”.  Worked in a few shots for myself - had the light bag: driver, 7w, 4 - 6 - 8 - Pw - Sw (DCI 962’s except the Sw a 981) and Zebra putter….got in some great tee shots, a couple of recovery and an awesome up and down for bogie: 55 yds out, hitting 4th shot due to 2nd getting tangled in limbs - see the window I need to hit for a tight spinner with the Sw - nail it to a postage letter distance from the cup for a tap in bogie….my kind of practice.
    • Day 21, April 29.  Before going to work this morning, I worked in my indoor practice room for 20 minutes.   This was entirely 6-iron shots with the usual step.  Video yesterday showed me that I'm still straightening my trail leg too much (leading to the backswing length issue I've been working to fix), so I focused on not doing that in my rehearsal swings.
    • Exactly correct.   I was absolutely certain about the penalty (none here), but the bit about where they play from can be really confusing the first time you read it.  In my big paper rule book, i used colored highlighters to make it clear.  Good thing I did, at the Cascades there's little to no cell service, so using the rules app on the phone wasnn't possible.
    • Taking a crack it, but looks pretty clear. 11.1  Ball in Motion Accidentally Hits Person or Outside Influence. a. No Penalty to Any Player If a player’s ball in motion accidentally hits any person (including the player) or outside influence: There is no penalty to any player. This is true even if the ball hits the player, the opponent or any other player or any of their caddies or equipment. Reading further down it looks like they have to play the ball as it lies. No replay from the previous spot.
