It is typically "golfable" in (southern) North Carolina in late December. But there are no guarantees. This winter (so far) has been significantly colder than normal. For me golfable is 35 degrees, sunshine, little wind, low humidity.

No sun - add 5+ degrees. Wind - add 5-10 degrees. Wet - add at least 5 degrees, etc. I probably play 75% of my scheduled rounds in the late December timeframe.

South Carolina will improve your odds a bit (Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head).

We'd want to stay somewhere where we would have access to say about 4 nice golf courses within 30 miles or so. Also, I'd rather not be paying too much for a round...not sure what rates are like down there in the winter, but if green fees were around $50 or less that'd be great, at least for the majority of the courses.

That may be pushing it rate wise. Its now peak season which means most walk on rates at the halfway decent public courses are $50 plus.

On top of that most courses charge out of staters much more. (I have seen several courses actually ask to see an ID.) If you want to play cheap, alot of times the rates drop after 3 or 4 depending on the course and at that point you will barely get in 9.

to almost guarantee good golf weather you almost have to go to Texas, Florida or anywhere on the Gulf Coast.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

When you get to Wichita - don't stop. Come to think of it, you probably can't stop. The wind is currently blowing about 45 MPH from the North and the temperature is in the very low 30's and supposedly headed down.

In my opinion, go South until you hit the big lake with all the oil platforms in it.

virginia is not bad if you can tough it up for 55* weather lol, but if you want it really warm, then i would suggest south carolina. You can also find many cheap and really nice courses down there as well. good luck.

Your kidding right, I live in Myrtle Beach, it was 28 deg. at 8am and will mayby go to 45 today. In Jan and Feb we have weeks of days where the high struggles to reach 40 with a windchill in the teens.
