historical tour stats?

does anybody happen to know where (if anywhere) i could find tour stats for players from decades gone by? i'd especially like to know what hogan and nelson's fairway/GIR stats were. i did a google search but didn't see anything...

I have never looked for them but pgatour.com or pga.com might be a starting point. Perhaps there is a contact e-mail that you can reach out to and they can point you in the right direction.

You rarely ever hear anything about stats from decades ago. My gut feeling is that they were not even kept since they would have to write it all on paper and file it away. With technology today, it is real easy for a machine to do the work, back then, not so much.

On the flip side, you can find baseball and football stats from long ago so maybe there is hope that golf stats were kept and there is somewhere to look at them. If you find them let us know.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Golf stats weren't kept really until the 1970's. Even then they were based on less information. Given the differences in equipment and courses they really aren't very relevant anyway. Athletic fields except for baseball are pretty standard.
