You should post that video on swingacademy, you will probably get an analysis in no time. You might even get a couple. I have so many swings on there that I'm pretty sure one of the main things you'll hear is that you start the club inside/on plane on the backswing and then do the over the top move and bring it above the plane on the downswing.

I did something similar and I have been trying to get rid of the over the top move for 6 months now.

On swing academy you can watch your swing in slow-mo which helps a lot but this is what I was talking about. The first picture is your backswing and the second, the downswing.

If you watched your swing in reverse it would look better I mean you can take the club away on a steep angle but you have to drop it down into the slot on the downswing. I'd say its easy to do but its not. I've heard people say that 95% of amateur golfers have the same problems.

My friend has the same problem and the only way we could get him to swing on plane on the downswing was to exagerate it to the extant that he said "That feels stupid that can't be right" We analyzed it on S.A and sure enough he was actually on plane.

This is tiger with on an iron dropped/dropping into the slot. You're take away postion is closer to being where you want the club to be on the downswing.
I think, I could be completely wrong.

The above poster is right your coming over the top. Try to think about your left arm dragging your right arm during the downswing. If that doesnt work try to copy what Sergio garcia does here(look at bottom) if you try to exagerate not coming over the top you will eventually be able to swing on plane without thought but dont over do it. If you work on this for a while and you take a video of yourself and your swing plane looks like Garcia's you should probably stop imitating him. When i was coming over the top this served as a good picture for me. Hope it works, good luck.

It's funny that you posted that because I have been trying to do just that. I read in golf magazine about how sergio gets into the slot and I was trying to emulate it in my living room.

He does some wierd stuff though like increasing the wrist cock angle on the downswing for greater lag and delofting clubs. There's a video of him hitting a 4 iron 250 yards on you tube. Crazy.

The problem that I see comes at address with your posture. Your posture sets you up with poor balance. At the top at the backswing the majority of your weight is back on your heels. As you move down the weight goes forward over your toes forcing you to come over the top. You must eliminate this rocking back and forth if you want to find the magic region known as the "slot". Look at Sergio's lower body and how stable it is. This allows the club to stay on plane. I have always been told the swing is built from the ground up. Address this and get yourself better balanced. It will pay off.

I agree with previous post.

You should start with balance. Get your feet and lower body centered.

From what I could see it looked like you straightened your right leg out in the back swing, although hard to tell. Good balance will help shift your weight to your right side and remain stable with your knee bent.

Also it looks like you start your swing a lot with your arms. I'd suggest try to start the take away by only turning your shoulders. I did that this year and it made a huge difference in a lot of ways.

best of luck.

    • Day 3: about 20 minutes of putting on the practice green. Focused on putts within 10 feet.
    • I don't have enough details to know what to tell you, man. If they were walking across, to play devil's advocate, maybe just wait another 10 seconds next time.
    • Day 11: Putts with a metronome and worked on some feels for greenside shots.
    • I realize the frame cuts off my tail but wanted to specifically see my hand path and club shaft and head travel from A5 to A7 with the grip and posture work I have been doing . This might be the shallowest I have managed to get the club head to enter into impact. I like the finish much more as well.
    • Context:  I used to play golf very regularly (and when I'm playing regularly, I'm on TST regularly).  In summer 2022, I got my handicap down to a personal-best 11.9.  Unfortunately, in the three years since then, I've had far less time to play, and didn't really make the time to practice.  I've played a bit more the past few months, and I anticipate having a lot more time to practice starting in about two months, at which point I'm hoping to go back to my old practice habits (practicing daily, Evolvr lessons, spending more time on TST (come to think of it, I can do that important last part now)).   But it was thinking about how different my nines have been a few times in the past month or so that made me wonder if there was a thread here about it, and sure enough, there was.  In the past month or so, I've had a 38-46 and a 45-39.
