I am going in a couple days to have my driver swing speed tested. I think its only in the low to mid 80's at best. I went thru the wizard at UST and from the facts that I think it had recommended me to use the 57g R flex V2. My current driver is a Titleist 907 D2 with the spec grid 67. Just curious if the 57g shaft would be good for me. Anyway just wondering if anyone here swings one that light. I will no more after I go to my LGS and have my swing analyzed. Thanks

Switching the shafts should only decrease the swingweight by about 1. If your driver is D1, then it will be D0 after the switch. It won't be that big of a deal. I read somewhere that's it almost impossible to tell the difference in one swingweight (unless you're a pro - even then it's tough).

If you're going to a place like Golfsmith that has a similar club, see if they have it with a 57 g shaft. Try it out; swing it. I can easily tell the difference b/t my 77 g shaft and my friend's 65 g shaft, though it is only a change of about 1 SW. You may not like it.

UST's website - or any other website for that matter - should not be the end-all to finding a shaft that fits. If you swing it and you're not comfortable with it, I don't care what any expert or website says, you'll hit it badly. Just try a shaft with the same weight. That's all I'm saying.

I have used a 55 g shaft (a friend's Burner 2007?). I personally don't like lighter shafts. The club feels like it's lost throughout my swing. I'm just more comfortable with a 65 or 75 gram shaft.

I just had the new driver for a couple of months my old driver is a 983K with a titleist 4560 R shaft and its 62g. I am going to get my swing analyzed. With my new 907 D2 I am about 10 yards or so shorter than my old 983K with the 62g shaft.

57 grams is pretty light -- I had a Mizuno driver with a 55 gram shaft (reg flex) and a Callaway F-3 with a 55 gram shaft (stiff) and ultimately they were both a little too light for me. I liked them fine, they just felt like I wasn't really swinging anything. I prefer at least 65 grams -- sounds dorky, but it actually does feel different.

My swing speed is 107now, and I use a 39g prototype shaft fitted through the Golf Lab. It's been tipped 2" and butt cut to 44". This thing is a beast. I hit LOOOOONG and straight, to small power fade. I use a 25g internal weight at 5.5" from the butt end, capped off with a 30g counter weight. Love it.
