I would like to replace/rearrange to high clubs in my bag. The driver is already replaced but woods and hybrids are a different story. Is it okay to play without a 3 wood? I used my old one off the tee but have never like to hit it out of the fairway. My 5 wood is workable on both the tee and fariway so i would like to replace it because it gets more use. If i replaced this i would later replace my current hybrid and possibly purchase a new one. Do you think this system will work going driver then straight to 5 wood?

why don't you look at a 4W (17°), and then with 1 or 2 hybrids ?

I think a 4-wood sounds good to, and then you could do like fab says and use a couple of hybrids or if you like go with a 7-wood that would be like a 4hybrid, it really just depends on what clubs you'r already carrying, if you put that on here you'd probably get alot of feedback on the different setups you can carry.

Right now i have a 3 wood, 5 wood, and 3 iron hybrid. I would like to replace all three of them eventually somehow. Like i said before i was think of going 5 wood and two hybrids. The one hybrid i would look to be the loft of a 3 wood and the other to replace the 24 degree i have

I have to agree with most of the other posters. If you're planning on replacing your 5W anyway and getting rid of 3W, it might be good to check out a 4W (around 17*). It will be easier to hit off turf than 3W but still as easy off the tee as 5W. There will be less distance lost as well. As for hybrids, it depends on what you do with other clubs. A 2H (16*-18* depending on brand) is typically considered to be about the same distance as a 5W. You say you have a 24* hybrid. That's normally the loft on a 4H and not a 3H (which usually has a loft somewhere around 20*). You say you would like a hybrid about same loft as 3W (somewhere between 13* and 15*). I assume you realize it's probably not going to fly as far as 3W (hybrids of same loft are almost always going to be shorter than same loft in wood based on shaft length and head design).

With what I've said, I would think the right way to go would be 4W (17*), 3H (20*) and 4H (23*), but that's just my opinion....which is worth about as much as John McCain's inaugural speech.

I vote 4 wood. Or in my case, strong 5 wood. Either way 17* is great off the turf and the tee. My clubhead speed with the driver is only 90 MPH max, so take that with a grain of salt. But off the tee I can go 210+ with my 5+ wood. Off the deck it is way easier than a 3 wood. About 200 total for me. Then the next lowest club I'd add would be no less than 15 yards total and/or carry distance below the 17*. I really don't think a 10 yard gap is necessary at the top of the set. JMHO

Good Luck!

An important thing to remember when replacing clubs with hybrids is not to match the loft of the previous club with the hybrid. Get a list of the distances you hit your clubs and fill the gaps with the hybrids, regardless of what degree they may be.

The reason i want to stick with a 5 wood is the fact that it sets up perfect to a couple par 3 holes at courses i golf at for high school matches. If i get going straight with a driver i don't need a 3 wood because i am not going at the green in two on a par 5. Par 5's are my achilles heal so i just try to get through them with a bogey. I normally do this with hitting a hybrid second shot so a 5 wood might even make it a par.

the 909 f2 woods are great, havn't hit the 909h yet, so i dunno about that. I would try the new nickent 5dx, that looks like a great hybrid!

i'd also say 4wood. for a while i played the driver-5wood set up without a 3wood. i played the 5wood pretty good but when i got a 3wood my game improved alot because i could reach alot more of the longer par 5's in 2 and i could use it off the tee in tight fairways.

I think i am going to pick up a nickent hybrid my local dick's sporting goods has for 80 bucks and then my next purchase is going to be some new fj superlite golf shoes and if i have extra money that i don't spend on actually going golfing i might pick up the cobra speed ld f 3 wood to match my driver because i love my driver.
