I don't know if all manufactures do this or not, but I have a 3 hybrid slingshot that is a tour model. If you compare it with the other slingshots, it's more narrow and solid. I also have a 23 degree Callaway tour model hybrid.

The guy I buy theses off of insist there is a difference. My friend who is a scratch golfer, borrowed the 3i and said he could hit it 10 yards farther than his regular nickent 3 hybrid.

Take that for what it's worth, just wondering.

Thanks

DO you mean clubs off a tour van? or just the tour models? like the TP models from tMade?

either way, they have more neutral weighting, square faces, and generally a less deep profile, all for more workability.

I would assume the tour versions measure to exact specs and are customized a bit on grind / loft / lie / length to suit the pro they are made for.

A lot of manufacturers tend to send out new models of their products to tour professionals first, i.e. Titleist tour pros often have a new driver,ball..etc months before it becomes available to the public. These are often stamped/labeled with certain "prototype" markings which are quite desireable to club collectors.

Well if we go the tour issue route, they can be very strange. I highly doubt that anyone picks up 10 yards, just because the club says tour on it, and do you mean your clubs are the "tour" version? or are tour issue?

I own a number of tour issue clubs, some of them are pretty unique,

My vokey, came standard with 10 degrees of bounce, but it was grinded down to 8, and had the black nickel finish before it was a standard option. It also feels a whole lot nicer (and normal vokeys feel pretty nice) than other vokeys i have tried.

An R7 460, This head, (i wont say who it was desighned for) is super low spin, as in, I, a pretty low spin player, just hit these super weak little knuckle balls with it. Some clubs, like the TMade SQ 282 are like this, specially tweaked for the super high spin players out there.

A mizzy MP Series Lobber. Again, the feel off this club is much different than that of the other mizzy wedges, (both the series, and the T,R Models)

AS Windycity said, They make proto balls, i have a few of these, I have protos from TMade when they were making the TP Red, ( they instead of the sidestamp, "TP Red" just say, "red" And i have one that i am unsure of, perhaps a new ball, as its a super soft ball, but does not spin like crazy, ( feel is similar to the E5+, but spin is comprable to the proV1X. read,s "TP Tour" on the sidestamp.

Off to school! :(

tour clubs are made to tour player's standards. they are generally made for more workability which is what tour player's look for in clubs. store bought clubs are very similiar, they are made more for the everyday golf as well as the serious golfers. they are the same clubs, the tour models are just tweaked a bit.
