Ive been using the Titlest 905R driver for about 6 months now. Bought it new over the summer. I love the club. Much better than my TM 425. But anyway, I was playing over the weekend in the cold, and after a swing i heard something rattling around inside of the head. Something broke off in there.

Before i try to contact titleist (or acushnet) to see if they will repair or replace it, i was wondering if they would even take back or repair it to begin with and if anyone has had any experience trying to return a club to acushnet.

I would think Titleist would fix/replace it assuming it's still under warranty. Call them and check, my only worry is that the 905R is two models old so it may be out of warranty now.

I've sent a driver back to get a shaft fixed awhile back and they were great about it. It's part of the reason I mainly use Titleist products.

your local shop can fix it if titliest doesn't take it back due to warranty issues. it might have been the very tip of the shaft or even a piece of dried glue inside the hozel that fell off. no worries its not a hard fix.

Thats exactly it, a piece of apoxy broke off im told. Or they told me some plasma welding might have chipped off. They offered to take it back and send me a 907d2 with the proforve v2 shaft i prefer. I told them thanks but no thanks, ive never had any success at all with the D2. From my personal expereinces, its the worst driver i have ever hit.

The rep told me the rattle wont effect the playabillity of the club at all, so im just going to keep it and deal with it until i can pick up another head on ebay or something.

As long as you never had it re-shafted its my feeling they will take it back and send you another one.

I just called customer service about my hybrid and the rattle, and they pretty much shot me down, and said I have to take it to my local pro shop, what exactly did you say? I'd really like a new 909H with a v2.

Well i had a bit of an inside, but basically i explained what happened and he explained back to me what the procedure was. Maybe there is something different in the woods and hybrids vs a driver, but i know that they wont send you a

brand new model club...haha... The one that was offered to me was the previous 907D2 model because they maybe dont stock 905R heads anymore.

Hah well they don't make the 585H anymore, so I just hoped, hmm maybe I'll call again, I doubt they can give me one with a different shaft, but if so I'd love a v2 stifff.

The exact same thing happened to my old Ignite 460 when playing in the cold. What I did to fix this was I would go back out in the cold and hit some golf balls until it would rattle again. Once it starts rattling, let the particle settle to the bottom. Go home and use a hair dryer on high heat and blow up on the bottom of the club for several minutes. This will melt the glue adhering the particle to the bottom. It should stay put for good if you play in temps above 50.

Fixed and doesn't cost a dime!

Really? hahaha! Wouldnt think that it would weight the head in a weird way, though?

Nope, feels the exact same. I mean the loose particle couldn't of weighed more than 1gram (if even that much).

    • Day 37: did my drill swings in the garage with foam balls for about 15 minutes. Working on getting my backswing more turned and then going from there.
    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
