So what did you see?

I saw Tiger playing steady golf. Not his best, but tighter than he was even last year, so that's good.

I saw Phil get off to a scorching start, then fall back with two bogeys. Vijay and Ernie fell back right at the end, too. I saw Mediate playing well, -2 through four. Wow.

I saw Tim Clark playing super golf (except for one or two putts), hitting that TaylorMade Rescue to a few feet a few times.

Crenshaw fell out of it FAST. Couples is only one over, but will likely fade too.

I'm still predicting a Tiger win, but at the same time, when was the last time the leaderboard at a major had all of the top five players in the world in the top 10?

With USA picking up coverage at 8am, it's gonna be a GREAT day of golf. I hope you've timed your bathroom breaks, because you will need to make the trip and back in 60 seconds or less!!!

Your thoughts?

P.S. Nice round by Furyk. Seriously, how does one get the "non-competitive marker" gig?

I agree with you Erik, I see Tiger winning the tournament.

I think the person playing the best golf right now is Mark Hensby. If it werent for that opening round 80 he would probably be leading right now. 7 under his last 36 holes.

Mediate playing very well but I dont think he keeps it up, hes playing 27 or so tommorrow, might be alot on him and his back.

One other to watch out for is Padraig Harrington, striking the ball real well right now.

But as said earlier, Tiger will win this tournament if he keeps making birdies where he should and making those great up and downs.

Well, according to the Golf Channel interview with the guy, you have to actually be a

member of Augusta National Golf Club and, apparently, one of the better golfers within the membership. This guy once fired a 63 from the member tees. Given those criteria you may just want to go ahead and qualify normally by winning the US Open or US Amatuer. But tomorrow is going to be unbelieveable. Glad I had the foresight to take a day off work.

61 actually, they said. His name is Jeff Knox it turns out. Furyk seemed okay with him. Cool.

    • If I can take a full swing, I'll use the stock club for that yardage.  I can't really get creative.  Just don't have that ability.  In the past, I used a sand wedge for all my shots around the green, opening or closing the face and moving the ball back or forward in my stance to get the flight I wanted.  I am trying now to use different clubs around the green.  I'm less likely to flub it but I struggle with distance control.  More practice required.
