New hybrid i am looking into has the choice of these two weights. I am not quite sure to get. I will be ordering it off the internet and I can't find anywhere to test it out. To me a 95 gram shaft sound pretty heavy to get good club head speed out of and good distance. It is a ust graphite shaft and i used there custom fitting thing on the website and to me everything points to around 85 grams. Info that could possibly help answer my question is my driver shaft is 63 grams stiff and i love it. Hit a 24 degree hybrid with steel shaft about 190 yards. 3 wood with graphite shaft unknown weight goes about 230 yards. I hope somebody can help me.

What steel shaft was in the 24*? If you know that, then you can determine how a 95 g or 85 g shaft will stack up against it weight wise.

I have 90 g shafts in my hybrids. I like it because it feels more like an iron than a wood. However, I seem to like heavier clubs and shafts in general. I play a 77 g shaft in my driver. If you like lighter shafts, then find one for your hybrid. To me, though, a hybrid should look and feel more like an iron. That's why I have the heavier shafts. And stop asking about hybrid distance. That's not the number one goal of a hybrid. Hybrids are to replace irons that you can't hit. They will hit longer than a similarly lofted iron...by how much is determined by the hybrid. You should want to find a hybrid that will fit perfectly into your distance gaps, not one that can hit the ball the farthest. A heavier shaft will cost you distance, and may help to fit the hybrid into your distance gaps.

I heard a generalization about shafts that hasn't been disproved...that being, the heavier shaft will be stiffer and will produce a lower ball flight compared to the lighter shaft of the same make.

Thanks for that information... i don't want an very low ball flight because i would like this to land soft near the green and bounce like once onto the green. I think i am going to get the 85 gram shaft.

That handicap is a poser handicap, never actually got a handicap index so i wouldn't really look at that. I sort of just guessed.
