OK, My Ft -5 has a scratch thing on the head, and I cant tell if it is a crack in the club or not...Iit is very distracting at address. I just noticed it, but i cant hit the club right now because it is like 50* outside and the snow is still on the ground. I bought it in september, and didn't register the club until today (doh!!). I was wondering whether this has happened to anyone else, and if anyone has dealt with Callaway customer service. I registered it under my Dad's name, so i dont know if i want to call them right off. Thanks

Where exactly is the mark?

well, if you know what the FT-5 looks like, there is a front section, and the a small "seam type thing" and then there is the rest of the club. It is about 3 millimeters back from the "seam" and it is very distracting at address. I will have to get out and hit it when it warms up, to see if it is a crack that affects the club..... Any other help?

Yeah, thats the same as happened to my friends Ft-5, before the crown came off! It's where the join between the titanium face and and the graphite crown hasn't been bonded correctly in the factory. If you send that back they should send you a new one without any problems (might even send you an Ft-9 if no Ft-5s left!). It wouldn't affect the performance too dramatically if you continue to play with it though, you'll just get a nasty surprise when half your driver head follows the ball down the fairway one day (one of the funniest things i've seen on a golf course by the way!).

You could submerge it in water and bubbles should form if it's a crack. I think this happens anyway.

id send it back to Callaway even if you arent the original owner of the club. ive heard their customer service is outstanding and ive heard instances where they replaced clubs in instances such as this and if that current model wasnt available anymore they replaced it with the newest version they have

Call or Email customer service to get the claim started. As long as the damage is not from misuse, they should send you a new one.

well, it worked ok, but it sounded a bit different i think. I havent played in like 2 months, so i test it against my dad's this week. I will go over to the pro at my club and ask him about it as well. If it is only a line of chips in the paint, where can you get it fixed????

      Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.

      Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
