I am currently having the tendency to hit the ball generally a groove low of the sweet spot on most of my irons, generally the shorter ones(PW-7) I feel like I'm putting a solid swing on them and I take divots on most all my shots and I still never quite make solid contact. This is really bugging me out on the course and I cant quite figure it out on my own. Any suggestions?

EDIT**

By the way even when I make thin or a groove low contact with the ball it has a high trajectory, it just comes up short.

Make sure you feel the weight transfer to the left side as your hips clear. On short irons, you might try hitting a few with your shoulders more level at set up. We get used to pounding drivers, but the iron swing really is still a decending blow.

before you hit your irons make sure that your arms are extended to the ground but don't allow your arms to become tense. another trick is to push down on the irons slightly brushing the grass on your initial move back and this will guarantee that you will come back to the ball solid and not hit it thin.

Also, make sure that your base is solid and you are not swaying away from the ball. another trick is to practice your short game because it is a mini full swing and the pitching drill will focus on making solid contact and not hit it thin.

    • I would like to amend my original comment on the new Maxfli irons. Yes, $800 for forged irons is a pretty good price and they do feel good BUT...I have since found out that $800 is only for off the shelf, standard issue clubs with standard lengths, lofts, lies and shafts. Any change made from stock results in huge up-charges so that the final price ends up pretty much the same as similar forged irons from any of the major manufacturers.
    • These were almost all included on the list of Clarifications or revised Model Local Rules released just a few days ago.  I'm pretty sure the first 3 are brand new MLRs (Moved/Wrong Place, Embedded Ball in someone else's pitch mark, Internal OB applies only to tee shot) that the PGA Tour is choosing to use.  The 16.1 Rule (relief near a Putting Green) was revised allowed a Committee to give relief for more than just Immoveable Obstructions, microphone holes would be classed as GUR (a hole made by the maintenance staff).  The replacement club rule was available before, the E-3 (Lift Clean and Place distance) could have been defined as "one scorecard" before, they're just a change in how the PGA choices. Here are the January 1 Clarifications and revised MLRs https://www.usga.org/content/usga/home-page/rules-hub/clarifications-of-the-rules-of-golf.html#cp
