Hi there,

Has anyone gamed these two balls extensively enough to offer opinions on how they perform? I'll be trying them out side by side this spring, and am wondering how different thay are?

Hi there,

The best answer is how is your putting. Due to the make up of the DT Roll it will be harder hit it the correct speed on keen greens, That is the trade off for the added roll on the fairway. The NXT Extreme is a very popular ball in the mid range price area and gives the better combination of all around playability of the two.

I have played both and I prefer the NXT Extreme. I felt like the DT Roll was a bit hard for my taste and the NXT Extreme felt better for me. I liked the ball flight of the NXT Extreme and didn't think the "roll" with the DT roll was really there.

I also tried the DT Carry and liked it a lot more than the DT Roll. I liked the ball flight more and it felt better on all hits, from irons to putter.

I wonder if my slow swing speed (80-85 mph) affects which is a better ball for me?

Good Morning gents,

I have the time to elaborate more on this so here goes. Last year I was hitting a 10.5 Tour Edge Geomax Bazooka driver at 45" and an A flex shaft. In Titleist balls I only used both types of DT's. With the driver I found that I got a much higher ball flight with the Carry balls, and a lower flight with the Rolls. I am not sure there was a lot of difference with the distances, both being around 200 yds. I do think the Carry gave me a couple of yards more. However, while I did put a lot of the DT Rolls in the woods, I put way more DT Carrys in the woods. Late in the season after losing about 10 balls on my local course, and doing some research I had an inch taken off my driver, and played my last round of the year with some HX Hot balls I was given. I lost a ball on my first tee shot, and only missed one fairway after that. I did note that the ball was very dead for me, and I lost about 10 yards with it. I think the HX Hot is too high compression for me.

After more research I figured out a higher lofted driver would do me good, so i got my new Ping G10 over the winter, and ordered it a 44 inches. I am wondering if the new driver with the higher loft, and higher launch angle and higher back spin will affect all this.

I have some DT Roll, DT Carry, NXT Extreme, e6+, and some of those HX Hot to try out in the spring. I am planning on trying all of these so I can hopefully select a ball and stick with it.

Green side control matters more than distance. I'd take neither ball and get the E5+ from Bridgestone instead.

    • Day 126: 5/1/24 Putting and chipping practice. Slow motion swings with 8-iron.
    • #4 - 1st hole at Kingsbarns I rolled in a 15 footer for birdie. Showed my caddie an old guy could still play a bit. #3 - 18th hole at Basin Harbor Club, Vergennes, VT. I had played matches against my nephew over the years. He had never beaten me although through the years he had become a long hitting teenage golfer. I was 1 up but bunkered near the 18th green. My nephew had a long putt for birdie. I splashed out of the bunker to 4 feet. He rolled his first putt close and I gave him the par. Sadly for him, I rolled mine in and won our last match. He went off to college and then Europe for a Ph. D. It was our last match. Family champion forever. #2 - First playoff hole in the City of Livonia, MI “65 & Over” division. I rolled in an 8 footer that broke about 4-5 inches. #10 Whispering Willows GC. #1  18th hole at TPC Prestancia, Sarasota, FL. A 4 foot slicing putt for par to beat the prior year’s Member/Guest winners and win the Member/Guest with my father at his club. I was having heart palpitations as I played the final hole solo when my father put two in the water. There was never a better golf sight for me when that ball dove into the hole.
    • Finally, wedges getting somewhere. This one a punch gap from 87 yards to about 12 feet. Contact and ball flight absolute restaurant quality. It's nice when grass comes back.
    • Tiger on the Today show today. At 3:25 he says he's working on keeping his arms in more and rotating his hips better. Nice.
    • Day 11- Slow,  short swings with short practice club.
