I thought the show was a waste of time. Sure, Natalie Gulbis "participated" and the gals won---baking cupcakes! The arguments among the men at the end were interesting with Andrew Dice Clay being fired! Instead of Natalie, I was watching Ivanka Trump and Brandi, the Playmate, who was one of the members of the women's team. At least, the LPGA did get some publicity with Natalie on, but it was hardly worth the time. I recorded it so I fast forwarded through most of it.
I wish the LPGA tournament had been televised so we could have seen Lorena zip past Paula, who floundered during the last round. Paula had a 3 shot lead going into that final 18, and finished third!

I've always liked the Apprentice. It's interesting to observe how people turn on each other and how they interact in project groups. Did Natalie say anything? I didn't watch the whole thing but I didn't hear her say a word. She'll be around for quite a few episodes, flying under the radar. The Playboys were definitely an excellent marketing technique.

Yeah I watched bits and pieces thinking that she might be pretty good considering she has a lot of "business experience" outside the LPGA. I don't even remember seeing her on the screen.

Maybe we'll learn that she has excellent business sense soon . I was very surprised by what came out of Dennis Rodman's mouth, and I though Natalie was surely smarter than him.

Natalie Gulbis has never struck me as all that smart, and the thing about celebrities (and I mean true celebrities, which Natalie isn't*) is that they've usually figured a lot of things out, either by doing it themselves or by working with people from which they can glean information. They're successful, after all - they either did it themselves or had people to do it for 'em.

* "True Celebrity": People outside of basketball know who Dennis Rodman is. Almost nobody outside of golf has a clue who Natalie is.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

i watched the entire show and she (Natalie) barely spoke at all.

I wonder if she thought that she was "out of her element" with all the others talking it up and/or taking charge, especially that Poker Champion.

I agree with you. I noticed that Dennis Rodman said very little. He is not the most intelligent human being on the Planet Earth so I think he was afraid to talk. Andew Dice Clay and Herschel Walker were not afraid to speak their piece.

Definitely agree, Rodman did very little speaking, but he did manage to defend his case well enough for Donald to keep him around. Andrew Dice Clay (just realized that sounds like Dice-K) really blew it though. If he had kept his mouth shut and not suggested that he would not mind being fired for "dignity's sake", he might still be around.

The men's team (Cotu, wtf?) has way more star power than the women. When Joan Rivers is your team's biggest celebrity, you're in trouble in the long run.

I agree with you. If the Donald could have Clint Black on the men'steam, why not Faith Hill, Shania Twain, Jennifer Nettles from "Sugarland" (my personal favorite) on the women's team?

You are right. She was all covered up. I think that she was trying to be demure.

I have always said about Natalie....when she's "dressed up" in her normal clothes, she doesn't do a thing for me. But in her golf attire....wow. Like night and day.

I agree. I think it's that whole "good looking chick who can play golf" thing.

Afterall, one of the main reasons I married my wife was she had a single digit handicap. And Sean Connery left his first wife Diane Cilento (a pretty actress) for a woman who was a club champion, lol.

My Tools of Ignorance:

Driver: Ping I20 9.5*
Woods/Hybrids: Cobra AMP 3W and 3 HY

Irons: Cobra AMP 4-GW

Wedges: Callaway Forged Copper 56* and 60*

Putters: Scotty Cameron  35" (Several of the flow neck blade variety)

Ball: Bridgestone B330-RX and Srixon Z-Star

Bag: Nike Performance Carry

That's because she is not that hot. (IMHO) Nice legs for sure, but that's about it.

And what's up with Joan Rivers' face? Holy cow!

    • Day 63: Priority piece work with 6-iron, half-ish swings (9-3), Mevo+ to check ball flight. Average path is a bit left (1.2 deg) and average face is open (2.9 deg), so mostly fades. Will need to work on face, but overall happy with how this is going. Also hit 20 balls for short game practice - 10 each pitching and chipping
    • Day 6:  Played my 6th 9 hole game and beat my best score by 1.  Yay.
    • I need to find a 200 yd club. I am playing sTM speed blades right now and I like them due to trajectory. I get them up really high. But my 4 iron is 20* and flies185 in the air. My 3 wood averages 215. I am looking for a  club, preferably an iron , that will go 190-205 cuz I got a gap there. I got an old Adams idea 3 hybrid that if I swing like an iron, goes 185. If I swing it like  wood it will get to 200 but I lose accuracy. I would really like to replace the hybrid with an iron that will get me 10-15 more yds. is there a super hot 2/3 iron out there that  could get me there with more consistency ? That gap comes up usually every round or two.
    • I've been enjoying practicing with the GCQuadMAX lately. I thought I'd take a little time to talk about how I use it during my practice. I practiced tonight with a 6I (my trust Nike VRII Pro/TW blade). First, I'll just say this: it's not about the ball flight or the shot. I'll pick a target on the range that's close to the distance I normally hit it, but it's just… because hitting it into a field is a little boring. And occasionally I hit a "shot" but the bulk of my practice is not about hitting shots, but working something specific. Here's the data in my default display (I'm using GSPro often for this type of stuff): Clubhead and ball speed are self explanatory, as is smash factor and spin (this was a 6I with a lower spinning premium ball). Club path is 4.3° right on this shot, with a spin axis of -6.9° (nice!), or a draw. The ball started 1.9° right, launched at 19.4° (a bit high, because…) AoA was 0.2° up. The ball reached a peak height of 117.2 feet, carried 183.1 yards, and was 5.7 feet left of the target line. A decent shot… if the ball was on a little tee or was sitting up in a lush fairway. 😄  Anyway… The only number I cared about for the first 20 or 25 shots today is the path. Since I care about the path, I use my alignment stick to make sure the QuadMAX is aligned, and I don't care much about what the face is, etc. This shot, like almost every shot I hit today, was a two-step swing. I'd swing back, pause, then swing down. I'm trying to do two things: take it back without folding my right wrist back a lot, then throw the club "behind" me with the elbow pit staying facing out longer. After my path was consistently 2-5° out, I'd start to care a little about the AoA. I moved the ball back a smidgen in my stance, and worked on feeling my chest stay down a little. I also slightly shortened the swing, as that would result in the hands getting to impact zone a bit earlier relative to the rest of my chest. Not surprisingly to me (but perhaps to others), my speed typically goes up when I do this. Here's a fuller screenshot with the number son the left made larger (and replacing the mini map in the GSPro software on the right side of the screen): As you can see, a similar shot. Path was still out, spin axis was still a bit left (barely), AoA was a bit better, offline was still pretty small… and the ball went a bit farther with more ball speed because I got up to 94.2 MPH clubhead speed with a still decent smash factor. This ball was a slight push a touch toward the toe - if my path is 3.1° right and the start line is 3.7° right… and the ball draws, that's a slight toe hit. A look at the QuadMAX screen confirmed that. At one point, I made the shortest swing I could, with the fastest downswing piece (what I'm trying to do) that I could. I really didn't care about the face on this one: Path and AoA are good. Speeds are good. Smash wasn't bad considering the face was wide open.
    • I shot a 34 on a Podunk par 3. got 5 pars in a row but skulled 2  "pitches" off of dried mud. killed my round. I guess I'll bump and run whenever I am on hardpan from now on
