actually, I did it with my brother, since I don't have the club holder. Everything went well, but I didn't use any double side tape to put on the shaft....so I just wonder if the grip would slip off, or it would turn after time. I checked already, everything seem to be tight, but at the end of the grip(not the butt), I could turn it a little bit. Not sure if they would tighten up over time.

Should I take them out and re-do it? or would it be okay?

Anyway, we use the air compressor, and injection nozzle to do everything. We used soap as solvent. and we used kitchen towel roll, instead of the plastic pipe (for protection when take the grip out). It was pretty easy, I cant believe those retailer like golf galaxy, and golf smith charge us so much....but well, we have all the tools we needed.

when you say injection nozzle, what does that look like? I would be interested in seeing how this use of air works? Can you use it to take off clubs that have tape on them? I have done grips with tape and solvent and it works fine.

As to your question, I can't answer it, I hope somebody else can.

I'm not an expert, but from what I understand the double sided tape isn't necessary to hold the grip in place. The smaller diameter of the grip and the friction between it and the shaft is what holds it in place. The tape and mineral spirits just act as a lubricant to make sliding the grip on easier. Somebody please correct me if I'm misinformed.

I've been using the air on/off method for a few years now with no problems. You might want to use mineral spirits instead, soap can leave a film that could allow the grip to slip.

can you use air to remove grips that have tape on them already? I need to regrip some clubs for a family member but they are graphite and I don't want to just run a blade down the shaft like I do on my steel irons.

Thanks

You can get the Hook blade or carpet blade for your untility knife and you won't score the graphite.

Thank you for your help :) ... and Yes, you can use this method to remove the grip, no matter if it has the tape on them or not. After taking off, my old grips are still good. I changed it because stock Mizuno grips are a little bit too big for my hands, I had been choking down since I use these clubs.....

I am so happy I saw the video when I am about to change the grip :) thank you for whoever posted it on here.

Anyway, I think the grips would not slip, the butt end is really really tight. Only about 1 inch of the other end could move. However, it wouldn't move no matter how hard I swing.

My recommendation would be to use the tape method. The tape will give you that last bit of insurance to not allow the grip to slip. Even if the grip changes position slightly, you may not notice it, but depending on how you grip the club, some angles might change ever so slightly causing swing and flight problems that you would not know how to correct.

I agree.

Every other method either "might work"......"should work"......or "works so far". The tape ALWAYS works. Why take a chance? Just my opinion.

I will put tape on tomorrow. I believe you, and I don't wanna take a chance too.

When you use the youtube tags, just enter the code for the video and not the whole link. In your case, just put cXcTsZeKpaE inside the youtube tags.

do you need to buy that piece he is selling? Is there a DIY thing you can make that will work? I have a blower attachment for my air compressor, what do I need to insert it into the grip? the safety is nothing more then a piece of PVC.
