I know that these balls were probably overhyped in the old Consumer Reports review awhile back, but who plays these balls??

I want to buy a bulk amount of balls so that I consistently play with the same ball but I'm wondering if anyone has a lot of experience with this ball.

Specifically, do they check up nicely on the greens like a Pro V1? I know they won't react exactly like a Pro V, but do they stop nicely with a well struck wedge??

I'm also curious on any ball you've played that you think checks up on the green almost as nice as the ProV1.

Thanks!

If I am buying new golf balls, I buy these (I have not tried the new model, just up till the '08s). Otherwise I'm using "one-hit-wonder" proV1s from the woods next to my local private club. (Some very nice very unhit balls can be found there.) So yeah, I play both balls.

To answer your question, the nike balls don't spin quite as well for me. They don't have a urethane cover like proV1s, so its understandable that they don't. But I find the powersoft's holding power is easily sufficient for me.

With the Nike balls, I usually get no more than 2 feet of roll off my 3/4 or full wedges, and occasionally a small spin back (again about 2 feet). Irons also hold well. Around the greens, I don't hit chips that "check" very often, but that's probably partly me.

This is all on our slow to medium speed green in the Northeast.

I will keep buying them for sure.

I've never played those Nike balls, but Bridgestone e5+ spins pretty well for a mid-priced ball.

Nike PD Soft is my favorite non $40+ ball. They are cheap now, too. Go for it. You will not be disappointed.

Agreed. I ordered a 60 mint grade of these on ebay and have been using them for awhile. They arent too bad around the green and are good off the tee. Especially for a cheap ball.
