Hello,

Sorry in advance for the double post but know one is looking at my post in the other section and I know there are people on here that can help if they see this post.

Looking for courses to play on the way down to Augusta in a couple of weeks.

Anyone have suggestions for nice, reasonable, public courses close to route 19 south down through West Virginia and also on Interstate 77 South from West Viginia down to Columbia, SC??

We're obviously looking for courses that are close to the highway. There are a million I've looked at but would love some recommendations. Thanks!

Interstate 77 in Blythe or Blythewood....I forget the actual name...it's less than 30 mins north of Columbia, SC. There is a course there called the University Club. It's the course for the Gamecocks.

I haven't played there in several years but I imagine that the 27 hole layout is still a great course.

Get your golf in prior to getting too close to Augusta, though. The rates go crazy during Master's week. A lot of corporate groups with rotate their folks through the practice rounds and then on golf excursions to the local courses...paying big bucks to do so.

You can check with the course in my sig line. They were holding tee times for a reasonable rate during Masters week. You'll be golfing on a military base...safest place in the world!!!

Went to the Masters in 07, and I spent all my time practicing at Barthram Trail in Augusta. The course looked amazing. I would check it out, and if you don't play there at least go practice at there facilities. Have fun its awesome down there!

I think I already responded to your other thread about WV, but near Beckley and 77 and 19 is a resort called Glade Springs that has 2 nice courses. A traditional older style course called the Cobb Course and a newer style course called Stonehaven. I have played both courses and really like them. They are around $100 each, but I found them to actually be worth it (and I'm a bit frugal).

About 20 miles West of I-77 off I-40 is a great course that hosts a Champions Tour Event... Rock Barn.

Another good stop, a little closer would be Verdict Ridge...

I can't imagine being disappointed in either course... both are just north of Charlotte.
