So basically, I have had the same coach for about a year now. He's been helpful, yet I'm not sure if it has been as successful as I like to think. He lovs to emphasis the mental game and does a lot of lectures. He's helped my mental game, but I think I'm ready to move on. I'm sometimes not sure if his swing tips are really helpful. Like recently we worked on swing plane, but I feel like everything I learn he keeps me going back and forth between wrong and wrong (like going from a hook, then to a slice, then back again). He's not the most technical guy. Keep in mind I'm a teenager. Should I look for a more technical coach to help my swing, which often keeps me behind?

Ask around and find an instructor that appeals to you. You can always go back to your current instructor.

Your right, research can't hurt anyone.

Is there a review system or a rating system or some sort of database where you can find info on various PGA Teaching pros?

Instuctors are just like golfers. Some are more technical and some deal more with feel. You have to figure out how you learn best. I myself need to see my swing on video to fully understand what I need to work on.

I suggest you take a lesson from another instructor, you can always go back to the original guy. It is really important since you are spending all this money on lessons that you get someone you believe in. You are throwing your money away if you are second guessing everything your current intructor says.

Yeah, I'll do a little research and see what's local. My current instructor films me with his camera, but I think I could use a better tech video. For my full swing, I like tech stuff, so I'll definitely look into it. Do technical guys like your instructor help a lot with short game?

I don't do any real short game work with him. Although, I did get my putter stroke on camera with him once just to get a good look at it. He does do short game instruction, though he doesn't use the camera. He is really good at breaking down the golf swing and making it easy to understand how to improve. He uses a program that allows him to draw lines and show your swing along side of numerous tour pros so you can get a good comparison between what they do an your swing.

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm looking for. What kind of relationship do you have with him? Sounds weird, but I just wanna know if they tend to be more like coaches then just simply instructors.
