Today I went to the range and tried my Ping Eye 2's again. Besides the fact that it plays a fade the ball likes to balloon. The clubs are a regular shaft versus my Ben Hogans which are a stiff shaft. Today the wind was fairly strong against us so I was losing a great deal of distance. Is the regular shaft causing the ballooning or is it just the Ping Eye 2's? I'm worried since when I buy a new set I don't want to have to worry about a ballooning flight with a regular steel shaft.

Do your Hogans balloon on you to? and do the ping's balloon on days that it's not so windy? if your answer is yes to both ?'s than it's probably not the shaft's.

Haven't tested it in all the conditions but was wondering if anyone had any experiences with Ping Eye 2's or ballooning due to change in shafts.

I balloon the ball but it's because I either get to steep with the driver and spin it like crazy or with the irons I get flippy in the wrist's, but you can bet that if the wind is blowing in your face with strong gust's and you have trouble hitting the ball low with your mid to short irons it's gonna balloon most of the time.

I had a set of Hogans....ten, eleven years ago. They were STIFF flex...at least on the labels....however they tested out by a clubfitter later on as falling into and EXTRA-STIFF range of many other shafts.

I suspect that you could be experiencing a very wide range in shaft flex between your two iron sets.

High ball hitters into the wind......ouch.....that's where the old knockdown shots can pay huge dividends.

Going to test out my Ping Eye 2's on a not so windy day. Hopefully it isn't too bad.
