  1. 1. Should caddies be allowed to line up putts for their players?

So maybe PGA pros should have several caddies in their stable. One for their putting, one for their short game, one for their ballstriking and one for their mental game. I wonder how much Dave Pelz would charge per round.

The player is only allowed one caddie.

6-4 . Caddie

The player may be assisted by a caddie , but he is limited to only one caddie at any one time.

Player Briefly Changes Caddies for Exchange of Advice

Q. In view of the fact that a player may change caddies during his stipulated round, may a player briefly change caddies for the purpose of receiving advice from the new caddie?

A. No. It would be contrary to the purpose and spirit of the Rules for a player to change caddies briefly for the purpose of circumventing Rule 8-1 (Advice). Therefore, in equity (Rule 1-4 ), the player would incur a penalty of loss of hole in match play or two strokes in stroke play for each hole at which the action occurred.

I'm thinking ballstriking caddie on Thur/Fri, short game caddie on Sat, putting caddie on Sun. I know way outside of the box lol. Swing gurus could stable a number of caddies under their direction - when their caddie wins an event with his/her respective player the swing guru shares a percentage of monies.

I know its legal...but its cheating. They might as well permit the players to use alignment rods during a round to set up.

Any respectable teaching pro will focus on alignment to the target, early in the instructional process. Alignment is key, and getting it right (on your own) is another reason why this sport can be so tough..making it so great. The pros who have their caddies checking their alignment are making a travesty of the game.

    • Day 55: 2026.03.04 Backswing work, trying to pull everything together, slowly at first.
    • Day 519 - 2026-03-04 Got some work in before lessons. Mostly downswing. My backswing is good.
    • Yeah I’ve tried it but I don’t feel very comfortable doing it like that. Isn’t there like a website where I can do it so it’s safer?? I got scammed one time on FBM so I don’t trust it.
    • Day 200 3-4 Wider back swing, arms up a bit higher, and added in some flow work to start getting a since of a full swing. Still focusing on arching wrist through downswing.
    • It's going to be very difficult for the 2026 Masters to match the 2025 edition for storyline. I honestly don't know that anyone else in the field could match the story of Rory finally winning after so many years and the blow ups over the years, not to mention the career slam being completed. No one this year that I can think of is remotely close to that kind of story. Combine that with the attempts at blow ups last year (Double on the 1st, 13, 18 on first try) and the stunningly good shots that he hit in the final round (7, 15, 17, 18 on second try).  Full gamut: https://www.masters.com/en_US/watch/2025-04-13/17445961638226475/every_single_shot_from_rory_mcilroys_final_round.html
