I was out on the range today with my buddy and it was quite cold out ( 5 degrees celsius)

He was hitting some drives and he some how cracked his driver on the back side of the toe. He said all he did was tap the ground after a drive and he heard a weird noise.

Would temperature have anything to do with this?

3 wood: Founders NGX 16 Graphite

My guess is a piece of shit driver. Good riddens.

Second thought, the ball was what was sooooo cold and this, like anything else that is cold, was harder than normal. Maybe a waterlogged piece of crap range ball, then frozen, you do the physics. This could have caused a stress fracture. He knew it when he hit the ball. Otherwise why would he be tapping the driver on the ground? Odd thing to do, don't you think?

Third thought, your "friend" (is it really you?) ha ha ha, hit the ground with the club. The cold, hard ground. But again, I must say, I think it is just a piece of shit driver.

What time of day was it? I wouldn't think 5 degrees would that bad, it'd be like putting your club in the refrigerator, which I don't think would do much, plus the head cover on the driver would have kept it a bit warmer than the outside temperature. If it was early in the morning on the other hand and there was a frost overnight maybe the club and the balls were still quite cold and you might have a problem.

I did the same thing with my TaylorMade R7 this winter. I called TaylorMade and told them what happened and they replaced the driver head free of charge. Try calling the manufacturer. You may be surprised what they'll be willing to do for you.

haha no serious i would be PISSED if that was my brand new driver. I think he tapped the ground sorta like grounding the club before he hit it, who knows, maybe he did know something was wrong. It was odd though

He has a set of NIKE Ignite clubs, it was the driver that came with it, i'll let him know to do that.
