Hey everyone,

I just had to share my excitement. Today, I took my brand new Nickent ARC blades out for their first strikes and 9 holes after leaving them in the closet for 3 months. I saw the deal on ebay so I just went for it and told myself that I'm not allowed to touch it until I finish my thesis, which I also turned in this morning. Anyways, I was transitioning from the nickent hybrid gi irons which I had a hell of a time hitting for some reason. No warmup, never hit the irons before, and just took it out there and I was absolutely pure every iron shot. I pushed 1 and had a slight pull, but it was all flush strikes. Was 7 over after 9 but I didn't drain a single putt, even 3 putted twice, and I made some stupid mistakes on greenside chips, mostly taking the lobber to a lie much fluffier than I thought more than once. BUT, I am extremely happy with these clubs.

Now I have never owned a steel shafted set so this feeling was completely new. I know I was hitting it pure but I got this feeling when the ball made contact, the shaft seemed to make the club grab the ball and whip it through at impact. Is that the way a shaft is supposed to feel? They were DG x100's because I figured I swing pretty quickly so give it a shot. I was afraid of a lower ball flight from the blades and a stiffer shaft, but I hit these higher than my gi irons. Infact, I found myself striking better (and somehow longer) with the 3 and 4 irons than I did with my 2 and 4 hybrids, even getting more height, weird huh? So, this leads me to ask 2 questions.

1. What is your take on that spring in the shaft? Is that what a strike is supposed to feel like?

2. If the long irons are going higher and further and just as straight compared to my hybrids, should I drop the hybrids and stick with the irons?

Thanks for reading my ramblings and for any feedback.

enjoy your new clubs. I'd hold onto the long and mid hybrids ( 2-6) for now. Try playing with a mixed set (the ironwoods and 5+6 hybrids) and the 7 on up blades.

Very few pros these days carry a blade under 4 iron.
