actually, Flushing.

I've been playing, like seriously playing, a year now. I play a bogey game. I've been hooked to the game and try to play or practice whenever I can. I usually play the Long Island courses.

If anyone ever wants to play or is looking for a serious practice partner, let me know. I would like to meet someone that is as serious about improving their games as I am.

One of my friends lived in NYC a couple years ago. He loves golf but hated golfing in NY because of difficulty of finding golf courses with available tee times and the horribly slow play. He said it once took over 6 hours to play 18 at one of the city courses (I think he said it was something like 'Cortland' or whatever.)

all the NYC muni courses are overpacked, not well kept due to massive foot traffic and ppl not taking care of the courses, expensive and LONG LONG rounds. I usually only go to those for twilight rounds just to practice. The courses in long island are VERY nice however.

Why pay $41 for a 18 holes on a poorly kept muni when I can drive an hour out and play for the same price and a much better kept course?

I'm pretty much in the same boat, I am from Flushing and started a little over a year ago. Just had my first range session at Douglaston for the season. I took a 5 month break so I need to get back into the groove of things. I usually play Douglaston or Bethpage and once in awhile some of the other muni's. Let me know if you want to hit up the range or play a round.

Oh yeah and welcome.

Welcome I'm from NJ but if I lived in NY I'd be up for practice/playing rounds...anyway are there any courses with holes overlooking the Manhattan skyline??

I lived in NJ for a while. I even renewed my Bergen County card this year. I'm game for a round pretty much any time. We should make a golf outing for all the members on here that live in the area sometime over the summer...

I haven't played in Bergen yet but I have a friend that plays out there. I might be game for a round if Matt goes and if I can borrow my friends card.

I'll be moving up to Brooklyn in August from DC and am scared I won't be able to play as much golf. Has anyone played Dyker Beach?

Playing in Long Island and NJ seems like it might be a good idea, and I also have a lot of friends in Westchester but it could take a while to get up there from Brooklyn.

say goodbye to golf as you once knew it.
