Saturday, the next week!
It's a local match restricted to our club members. It's a really interesting format as well. I don't think I've ever read about it anywhere before. It's like an endurance challenge, each player receives a flag with his name on it and starts playing. Once you reach the course's par+your handicap, you stop playing and stick the flag where you finished your strokes. The last flag wins the game.

Let's take myself for example; I'm a 28 handicapper. Once I play 70 strokes (the course's par)+28 strokes (my handicap) (98 strokes in total) I stick the flag with my name where I finished and I stop playing.

So let's say I finished 18 holes without finishing my 98 strokes, I go on playing from hole number one again until I finish my strokes. The person whose flag is stuck the farthest from the starting point wins the game.

A pretty interesting and fun-to-play format. Have you ever played something like this before??

Oh btw, the match is named after the 80+ years old waiter at the club's clubhouse. He's the oldest guy serving in the club and the match is played in his honor.

I played like crap. I finished my 92 strokes and stuck my flag on the 15th fairway. I did some really CRAPPY scores like a 9 on the par 4 first and 12 on the par 4 fifth (2 successive out of bounds)!!!!

Funny thing, I wasted a birdie put on the par 5 13th by a just 2 inches. Settled for a par. That was my only par of the day. Yes, I was THAT bad. But it's my first match and the draw put me with 2 players I've never played with before so it was a bit tense.

But one of my golf buddies won the match which made it up for me. It was really fun and a good day nevertheless.

    • I  had to return to boast  just a  bit. Everyone  knows  i thought  this  is  how the Championship should  be decided. Match play is far  better than stroke  play to determine a  champion and  its  much closer to most sports  playoffs. Lose and you are  out.     Promotion, relegation and match play: PGA Tour unveils radical new structure The PGA Tour has revealed its planned changes to its competitive model, schedule and playoffs, changes that will be more substantial than any in the Tour's half-century-long history. How will the PGA Tour series wrap up its season? The current PGA Tour playoff format consists of three stroke-play events, concluding with the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta. Starting in 2028, the Tour's playoff system will feature match play, and will rotate through various courses. Further details will be revealed at this year's Tour Championship next month.
    • Posted a couple swings here. I think my attempt to blend the movement still results in a more “around” back swing?
    • I never heard dislike for them.  From my perspective, they are just like any other club. Though, they were always probably over-priced, until recently as other club manufacturers have been raising prices the past 5+ years. You had to wait for them to go on sale, which you can get them closer to other club manufacturers.  They sell good clubs. Nothing crazy..
    • Why do so many people dislike PXG clubs and constantly criticize them? All the folks at my club and especially online, I never hear good things about them except from people who bought them and defend them. They look fine to me but curious is there some sort of quality issue or is it just stereotyping the buyers.
    • I have the LM1 launch monitor and I’ve been very impressed. I agree with your assessment and it’s very accurate for me and ease of use is wonderful. The price point of $199 is very hard to beat with this form factor and performance. I was previously using a PRGR.
