I golf on a league for work and we play 9 holes each week. They calculate our handicap for us. Occasionally when I visit my mom and play, we play for small money. How does my 9 hole handicap translate to a 18 hole handicap? Just double it?

In a less serious setting, doubling should be fine. I'm not sure what the appropriate course of action would be if you were playing in a tournament or something like that.

Playing golf with my mother for money isn't a "less serious setting."

It just depends how the handicap is figured. You could also turn in the scores to GHIN to get a number. I have the same situation. I am a 4 for my league and a 8.5 GHIN number. But I have only played one round with the league so I am not sure if they will corelate as nicely after a more rounds.

If youre playing the same 9 all of the time, i dont know how that works. But i know if can combine two sets of 9's (front & back) from any given day and turn in a 18 hole handicap for index purposes. If youre in the GHIN system, it will just combine them for you. I have combined scores in my history from two seperate 9's that were played more than a month apart, in some cases.
