During the fall of 2008, I was playing my absolute best golf. I had a few rounds in the high 70s and had stretches where I was just throwing darts at the flag with anything from a 6I to GW. However, with school and work, I've had no time to practice and have only played a few rounds. Basically, I have absolutely sucked this year. Even though I've had little practice time, I'm so focused on making tempo changes and staying through the ball longer, that I've become mechanical. Instead of being the guy who just swings, I've become a thinker. It needs to end.

For those of you that experienced this, can you share with me how your blues ended? Was it by reading something, working with someone, going back to what worked?

I need some good advice.

Go to the range. Hit the biggest slice you can hit. Hit the biggest hook right after. Then hit your 5I at the flag that's 100 yards away. Then try to hit it two feet off the ground for 150 yards. Then hit another hook. Then hit a flop shot with your 4I.

Hit all kinds of crazy shots. Hooks. Slices. Low. High. Short. Long. Find the center of the clubface as much as you can.

There's no way you can be mechanical through all of that.

yeah your brain would just stop all together trying to be mechanical with all those swing thought's going through it I think it's pretty good advice if you can't get loose and have fun trying to hit a flop shot with a 4 iron than you should go buy a new bowling ball at least when one get's away from you you don't have to chase it.

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
