Thinking about taking my 2 iron out of my bag and strengthening my irons by one degree to add an additional wedge. That would make my 3 iron 20* and my wedge 46*. I would change my wedge set up from a 52* and 59* to a 50*, 54*, 60*.

Anyone done anything similar to this?

Not personally. I did, however, have a friend who played off four who went to this sort of setup. He was very solid driving and on approach, but his short game was relatively weak. After the change he didn't suffer any disadvantages with his ball trajectory (obviously club distances changed), but it did give him more options from short.

It's the sort of change that you might hardly notice in the long irons, depending on how you hit them (my friend hit the ball high, so he didn't really suffer at all), or might feel horrible. Could you try a set of irons closer to what you wanted before altering your clubs?

Seems like it would work fine. Maybe a little more effort and expense than you really need to go through though.......

I'd consider just bending the 3 iron a degree stronger, bend the 59* to 60* and drop in a 56* between the 54* and the newly bent 60*.

I don't think the extra degree diff between the 3 and 4 irons would cause me to lose any sleep and you'd have the added advantage of not having to adjust to the changed lofts of every iron in your bag.

Just a thought....

In David's bag....

I'd pull the 2 and maybe bend to a 51 55 60 setup.

OT, how do you like the mp30s? I picked up a set but havent had the chance to get them on the course for a round yet.

Nothing better than Mizuno doesn't matter which model. Although it seems to me that the new Nike VR's are trying to turn Mizuno loyalist with their similar looks and forged feel. I've hit them and they worth looking into.
