Lets say you buy a set of golf clubs, and you have the option between graphite and steel shaft. Are the heads of the clubs exactly the same or is there a weight difference based on the shaft type?

secondly, I found a nice Big Bertha by Callaway X-12 PW that only had half a shaft. I've deduced that the shaft was "ladies flex" graphite. Would the club head be the same as a set of men's callaway x-12's or is there a difference?

Thanks guys

Clubheads are the same as far as I know. I have Callaway Big Bertha golds (1996) and they appear identical to the set my dad has. Mine have graphite shafts and his set is steel.

I see you have a mixed up set. At some point in the future, it may help to get a set of irons. It must be tough having every other club a different design, shaft, etc... If you like Callaways, go to the Callaway Preowned website. I got my irons and driver there. Great place to buy from. Get a set of irons in "Good" or "Like New" condition and you would have a great set. The Big Berthas are around $300 on that site in "Like New" condition. Great irons for higher handicappers like you and I. Food for thought.

Typically the weight differs so that the swingweight can remain the same. If the swingweight is different, the clubheads might be the same. Then agian, the steel and graphite shafts they offer might weigh the same as well - unlikely, but possible.
