i've seen some of the videos people have posted...some of you have some big time problems haha

but heres my drive, keep in mind this was shot on a whim, i just had my camera in my bag and my brother in law decided to shoot my swing quick, and it turned out to be quite a good video

this is my 7th drive on my first round of the year

any tweaks i need to make?

i think my upper body is "too busy" other than that i cant really see anything

Pretty good looking swing. Here are a couple things that I see. Your left arm isn't straight at the top, but you get there on the downswing. Keep your hands as far away from body as possible while still having it feel comfortable. Your hand being a little too close to your head is why your arm isn't as straight as it should be. Another thing is your swing is a little too long. You shouldn't go past parallel with your driver and even shorter for irons.

edit: one other thing is it seems as you pulled off you follow through a little early.

Its hard to tell without looking at the swing in slow motion on a high speed camera, but it looks like your takeaway is a little steep.

Here is an example of Tiger's takeaway, his shaft is basically parallel to the ground here, and yours looks like its already at a 45° angle at the same point.

I could be wrong, but its hard to tell with the framerate of the camera.

I think it looks good there. Your right that it is hard to tell, but to me it doesn't look like it goes past parallel to the ground until right after the club is past waist high, which is good.

Hate to break it to ya buddy, but yours is not perfect either. I can also tell that their is no way in hell you're a 3 handicap.

Try to have a more athletic posture at adress and at the top of your backswing...not much else to say given the fact that the camera angle isn't great.

No offense dude, but I don't think that looks like a 3 handicap swing either, or even a 10. But hey, it's not like we're watching you play. Pretty low to dish on others' swings though, especially while yours looks like a baseball player who's been playing golf for a week.

I'm glad someone else said it and not me. In other words, I agree - unlikely you're a legit 3. Vanity, thy name is "Original Poster's Handicap."

I'm a hockey player so my swing is influenced greatly by my slap shot...it took me awhile to get the waist turn in.

most hockey players golf swings are powered from their upperbody

No, most bad golf swings are powered by the upper body. I'd suggest posting a level behind the back swing video on swingacademy so people can really rip apart your swing. It's nice after reading all the analysis you might give up golf.

Ie, you're over the top, across the line, you aren't coiling enough, you are lined up to the right, your grip is too strong, your left wrist is bowed, your spine angle is jacked and moves, the club is inside on the takeaway, your head moves, you aren't accelerating through the ball, club is closed at the top, your coming from the outside, you're casting, you need more lag, little chicken wing in your left arm.

^This is just a joke but you would be surprised how much of this is true for so many golfers that haven't played over a 1000 rounds or had 100's of hours worth of golf lessons.

    • I'll say again… you have a different definition of "temporary" and "speed" than I do. For your handicap to go up FOUR shots means you were through the soft cap and approaching the hard cap. If you did it over 15 rounds (leaving five potentially lower scores), then you played REALLY bad golf over that stretch because it's likely that only three or four of the best of those 15 rounds were actually counted, so if the three or four best scores RAISED your handicap five shots (three at 100%, 2 at 50% once you hit the soft cap), then that's some BAD golf over an extended (not temporary) period of time. And here's the thing… play 15 good rounds, or even just EIGHT, and it'll DROP again, even faster. Handicaps still drop faster than they rise, not only because of the way we calculate it (best 😎 but because of the caps. Right… it's not like you're not needing the shots. You're playing really badly, and your handicap is still lagging behind your play.
