Been having some trouble of lately with uneven lies. When the ball is below my feet or above my feet im fine. Its when Im standing on an uphill and my left foot is above my right foot. I seem to be hitting these approach shots way way left causing for a horrible hole. Any advice on how to attack these shots cause right now Im terrible when im confronted with these shots.

I generally take 1 more club, play the ball back-middle in my stance, and take a 3/4 swing without hitting down on the ball too much, and try to bounce the ball up on the green. I'm trying to take balloning spin off the ball, and let the ball release to the hole.

When I have to take a FULL swing, I "lean back", to keep my body and stance level with the ground. My guess is that you are swinging with most of your weight always on the front foot. With your weight exchange happening early in your swing, the ball is going to go left.

I definitely take more club, but my problem is that i tend to fall backwards after i swing causing the ball to go left.

Wood may have a point. It sounds like you were at one point putting too much weight forward in your stance, thus causing you to come in on a relatively perpindicular angle to the slope of the ground and hit it fat. As a result, you're now more conscious of that so you might be re-routing your swing to compensate and make sure you don't hit it fat. Perhaps maybe some over-the-top in there somewhere?

I'd try to make sure your setup is on the same plane as the slope. Then, after you've taken a bit more club (maybe choke down some) and played the ball back in your stance a bit, you can make a more normal swing because you'll be on the same plane as the slope.

Okay so maybe bending my right knee a bit so my spine is the same angle as the slope?

Remember- level lie or not, swing only as hard as you can without upsetting your balance. If you are falling backward, maybe 2 additional clubs and an easy swing is necesary on this uphill lie. Next time you go to the course and don't have people behind you in this situation, hit 4-5 balls and measure the results against different set up positions. This is the only way to gain comfort with the shot.

I'd try to make sure your setup is on the same plane as the slope.

In other words : your shoulder should be parallel to the ground. On uphill lies - more club (since the loft of the club is higher than on a flat ground) on downhill lie - less... Side-hill lies adjust accordingly by grippind down on the club ( if above your feet ) or grip it closer to the butt (if below). General rule for uneven lies that I always apply is - use more club and make sure your weight transfer is not full - take the lower body out of the swing to prevent you from losing balance (which is easy if you're not standing on a even ground). Since it's not your full swing - more club is always better

There is also a direction adjustment - ball above the feet tends to go left (for a RH player), since you'll be forced to swing more around your body, a pull hook is a typical effect. A slight fade to a severe slice is a possibility if the ball is below... Adjust your target accordingly. Works for me, let's hope it works for you too - good luck.

    • Day 430 - 2025-12-04 Slow motion backswings (with chippy shots) with AlmostGolf balls.
    • Day 24 (4 Dec 25) - Spent about an hour working with the new 55° wedge in the backyard.  Kept all shots to under 20yds.  Big focus - not decelerating thru downswing and keeping speed up with abbreviated backswing.  Nothing like hitting a low flighted chip with plenty of check spin and then purpose to float a pitch of similar distance.
    • Day 114 12-4 Put some work in on backswing, moving the hips correctly, then feeling over to lead side. Didn't hit any balls was just focused on keeping flowy and moving better. I'll probably do another session tonight and add in some foam balls.
    • Didn't say anything about your understanding in my post.  Well, if you are not insisting on alignment with logic of the WHS, then no.  Try me/us. What do you want from us then?? You are not making sense. You come here and post in an open forum, question a system that is constructed with logic, without using any of your own and then give us a small window of your personal experience to support your narrative which at first sight does not makes sense.  I mean, if you are a point of swearing then I would suggest you cut your losses and humor a more gullible audience elsewhere. Good heavens.
