I am a beginning golfer building up a small set and I am only missing the 3-wood and I was wondering if there were any recommendations. I am looking at used 3-woods preferably.

I got about 100$ to spend, thanks.

Tour Edge Exotics cb2. It is sweet. The model is, I believe, 3 years old now. After that I'm going to say the Ping G5 but the cb2's are just the sweetest woods I have ever swung.

Both of these are a little out of price range. But if they are really good and forgiving I may be able to stretch to accommodate.

You can find some nice used 3 Woods online. I picked up a nice Cleveland 15* Launcher for less than $50 shipped. Look around, hit a few and find what you like, then check Ebay out.

Bridgestone J33 3 woods and Nickent Fairway Woods (not the Utility woods) are awesome too. Also, if you want a good 3 wood that is also DIRT CHEAP, you can get a BRAND NEW Tour Edge Bazooka Geomax 3 wood for under $50 on Ebay. i have one and I use it from time to time. it has a really good feel to it

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-TOUR-EDGE-GO...lenotsupported

also, one of the longest 3 woods ive ever hit is the Sonartec GS Tour 3 Wood. a little more of a "players" 3 wood, but they can also be bought for under $100 on ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/Sonartec-GS-Tour...lenotsupported

i also bought a BRAND NEW Mizuno 4 wood on Ebay for $52. here is one (a 3 wood) with a BUY IT NOW option. but if you wait for the auctions you can get them a little cheaper usually

There are lots of options for a fairway in the $100 and less range. I believe the Nike SQ2 is now $100 at most retailers. I'm thinking of picking up a Mizuno F60 which is like $50 used.

Since you are a beginner. You probably have a problem with pushing your
three wood to the right when you hit it from the turf. This is the problem most
beginners and even many golfers who have played for years have. If you want
an easy three wood to hit and one that will help if you are pushing your
shots to the right. I highly recommend the Ping G10 draw three wood. If
pushing the ball right is not a problem for you. The regular Ping G10 three wood without the draw bias is still a very good choice.

I say a 15.5 or 16 degree hybrid is much easier to hit than a standard 3 wood, distance will be within 5 yards, and will go where you want it to more often. You can get a Nickent 15.5 for $40 at Dick's, or a King Cobra 16 at Dick's or Golf Galaxy for $99.

Sorry I just got back I was able to get a FT-I 3 Wood in great condition for about 80$ so I had to jump on that deal. Sorry for not reading these suggestions, but I heard it is very forgiving?

The Cobra Speed Series are pretty good, they come stock with Aldila NV lightweight shafts and are about $40 used. My first 3 wood was a Nike T-40 that I got for $20....one of the best clubs I've owned. I currently use the Callaway Diablo...got it for a $1 with my Diablo 9deg Driver.

thats an awesome 3 wood IMO. good deal too. now you need to get the matching FT-i driver to match! the ft-i is the most forgiving driver ive ever hit. i bought mine new about 2 years ago. then i was given a Mizuno MX-700. gamed it for awhile, then i put the FT-i back in the bag and its been there ever since. i love that thing. you can get one on ebay (from a reputable seller) for around $120 now

Try Golfsmith or Golf Galaxy for used clubs. You can hit as many as you want in their swing trainer.
Do not give up and enjoy the walk or ride!

Yeah I will definitely upgrade my driver in a few month. I have heard only good thing about the Callaway FT line of woods/drivers.

Got the FT-i today, what a BOMB this thing delivers. Had one of my friends with a better swing test it out. off the fairway he almost cleared the driving range fences, ridiculous wood.

    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
    • Day 1 - 2025-12-20 Starting a new streak, of at least 1. With rain dumping for the next week in the north bay area, I'll be a lot of outdoor net work and maybe some putting. About 10 minutes of 7 iron work, focused on the usuals: weight transfer, keeping hands behind me. I'll have more time in the coming days for video review and maybe some Hack Motion.
