Interviews during a Tourney Round - Not so Much

I've noticed that increasingly the media is interviewing players at a tournament during the actual round of the player.

They'll be walking along the fairway with them, chatting about their play thus far.

Really?

I think this reflects the epitome of rudeness and lack of respect for these focused competitors, and makes the events feel like sideshows.

Are there any other professional sports that interview players in the middle of "regulation time"?

twenty20 cricket over here they have a player from both sides miked up and the commentators have a little chat with them about how things are going in the game a points whilst they are fielding!

They kind of do it in Baseball, where they talk to the Manager between innings. In golf I think the players have the option to speak to the roving reporters. As far as I know it's not mandatory. Most of the time the viewer doesn't gain anything. Most of the time the conversation goes something like this:

Roving Reporter: "So Jeff, nice par back there, you are 2 shots back with 3 to play, what do you have to do to catch Bob?"

Jeff: "Ah, well, I'm gonna try to play one shot at a time and make a few birdies and see if I can catch Bob and maybe force a playoff."

Roving Reporter: "There you go, he says he has to make a few birdies. Back to you in the tower Steve."

Steve in the tower: "Wow, thanks for that insightful reporting. Let's go over to 17."
