I am going to Myrtle again this year (November), and I would like to have my own golf bag travel cover. I looked at Club Glove, and have heard good things about their bags. Problem is that I have a $100 gift certificate for Dick's, and they don't sell it - in stores or online.

Any opinion on the OGIO Monster? It looks pretty solid, but I have never bought any OGIO product before. Anyone have this yet? I think it is a new item for 2006.

Thanks.

Jeff and I (I believe Jeff has) both tried the Strait Jacket and it's a very, very capable travel bag. The Monster looks even bigger and sturdier, which would be good, as the soft sides on the SJ are my only real complaint (and the somewhat awkward storage).

Buy a broom handle and put it in your bag, too, if you don't have one of the actual umbrella things. I think it helps minimize the chance your driver shaft will go kaboom if baggage handlers don't treat with care.

.... Give a thought to the Datrek Club Shield Shuttle .. http://www.datrek.com/product.jsp?id=11#example

This dude has been in 9 states, dropped from the conveyor from 15ft at the Charlotte airport (not that I would recommend that .l.o.l.) tumbled out of the Amelia Island "customer convenience van" (not that I would recomemnd that either) ... and, it will hold a ton of stuff .....

It's certainly been good by me.

PS: stay from Dicks Affinity(?) products,
I bought a travel bag for my g/f last year and it "literally" unraveled on the way back from Pinehurst.

Whats in the bag.?

Ogio makes excellent bags... I've got he strait jacket as Erik mentioned and the Monster looks even better. I picked up one of Club Glove's Stiff Arm instead of the broomstick and its works good too.

You can't go wrong with the Monster IMHO.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I ordered the Monster bag, and will buy the stiff arm to shore it up. I'll post a review when I actually use it...

I took the Ogio Monster to Myrtle (with the Stiff Arm). The bag held up well, is easy to pull, and the top part inside has a nice padding for the clubs. Nice enough that I did not wrap the clubs inside with any clothing. My only complaint was the # of outside pockets - very measly. There are only a total of four pockets that held one pair of shoes and four sleeves of balls. I expected more - my only gripe.

Clubs made it there and back no with no damage.

    • I'm good with the bunkers, and the fairways are SUPER wide. Three yards should stop a ball that isn't landing in it from rolling into the hay.
    • I'm a little behind, but I just finished listening to the episode about practicing while on vacation.  I have two vacations coming up this month that I won't be bringing golf clubs with me on, and this was perfectly timed (I'm sure I am not the only one going on vacation in June).   Especially the part about stretching.  I keep putting off adding stretching, with golf in mind, to my daily routine.  I think I'm going to use these upcoming vacations, the first of which I'm flying off to on Thursday, as a way to get into this habit.   For anyone else interested, Fit For Golf (see sidebar) has fantastic stretching routines (some of which, I think, are on their free area).  I really should get back to doing their main exercises too.  I don't have any affiliation with them beyond "satisfied customer," in case that sounds like an ad. I may end up posting in the 5 minutes thread when I do golf stretches if it's my only practice that day... as if I don't already sound like a broken mp3 with my 10-15 minutes hitting indoors part. And back to the topic:  anyone not caught up on the podcast should consider catching up and listen to that episode, especially if you're going on a non-golf vacation this summer and want some practice ideas that aren't the at-home practice routine from LSW about long bunker shots (which I am sure we all do regularly).
    • Mostly pull cuts to slices. Some random pull draw/hooks pending of I hit the toe.
    • What's the rest of that story? Where was the ball going?
    • The criticisms are starting already 🤣 U.S. Open pro criticizes Shinnecock green conditions: 'Bumpy' After playing his first practice round at the 2026 U.S. Open, Michael Kim offered a less-than-glowing review of Shinnecock's "bumpy" greens.   The sand, I don't care about that. If the greens didn't come back as well for latest aerification, that would be a bit of a blunder on Shinnecock I think.
