I just recently got back into golf after a 4+ year hiatus, and have been using an older set of Square Two irons that a friend gave me. They are ok clubs, but are more of a blade-style and not too forgiving for a beginner like myself, I have a hard time getting them up in the air. So, I recently sold off some unused guitar equipment and thought I'd treat myself to a new set of irons.

I hit a few local shops and hit several clubs on the indoor ranges. I started with sets like the Cleveland HiBore hybrids and Callaway Big Bertha "ibrids", but they were almost *too* easy to hit. Someone recommended I try the G10s so I checked out a 7 iron and took it to a nearby driving range. I was immediately impressed! I was able to get the ball up quickly and was averaging about 160-170 yards with the 7. I could hit slight fade/draw shots, and the ball still behaved fairly well on slight mishits. Of course bad mishits still didn't turn out well, but that's a good thing ;).

I went back to the shop that day and got fitted, and am just waiting for them to come in now. I ordered 4-PW, and the SW. I'm going to wait until I can see what kind of gap I have between the 4 iron and my 3 & 5 woods to decide if I want a 3 hybrid in the bag too. Depending on what I find, I may have an excuse to replace my aging driver and fairway woods and use a driver, 3 wood, and hybrids instead.

Anyone else use these clubs? What are your thoughts after some time with them? Would you recommend the G10 hybrids to go along, or would you go with another brand?

I have some G10 clones, including the 3 hybrid. I love em. Infinitely better than the ancient Spalding irons I had before. I hit the 5 iron about 160 and the 3 hybrid 190 with clean hits. Impressively straight. I still slice a bit, but not nearly as badly as before.

I've never hit the G10 hybrids, but I'd imagine they're nice and forgiving like the irons. I prefer to stick with the same brand if at all possible, but that's just me.

I like mine. Have the 4-pw. I also have the 3-wood and like it a lot as well. Had the G2 irons before swapping out for the G10's.

I have the driver no for a little over a year. Awesome driver. I tried out several and liked the feel of this the best. It wasn't cheap, but well worth it.

What I like about it is it's extremely forgiveable, but workable enough. I don't like to work my driver a lot usually, but when I need to hit a cut I can, and when I need to draw it, I can.

I'm shopping new irons. I've hit the G-10's two times including this last Saturday. I've hit a bunch of other irons as well. Right now the G-10's are at the top of my list. On Saturday, there's a Demo day not far from where I'm at so I intend to go hit everything on my short list (G10, X22,Mx100) and make a decision. The reason the G10's are on the top of my list is that they just hit more consistently than the others. They just seem really easy to hit and really make me feel confident. From a feel perspective, they just feel solid to me. If I had to make the decision today, it'd be the G10's. If you get yours in and hit them, I'd love to hear your feedback. I really hope I can figure out what I want on Saturday as I'm pretty geeked about finally getting irons that are fitted to me!

I've spent time with a buddy's X-20s and my brother-in-law's AP1s and felt that the G10s are a better fit for my game. Granted, those probably aren't as "game improvement oriented" as the Pings, but the time I spent with the demo club showed me that the Pings seem to have struck a decent balance between game improvement and feel/workability.

I demoed the 7 iron as I have spent more time with the 7 from my Square Two set and the other iron sets I've tried. I was able to get about 10 more yards of distance and a better flight path from the G10s, not to mention more consistency. I'm excited to see what kind of improvement the fitting process yields from a club I already enjoyed hitting.
