I am a 6.3 index with 110-112mph driver clubhead speed playing a TM R7 460 9.5, ProForce V2 XS shaft driver. If I really juiced one I might get about 285yds so I figured I was leaving some distance on the table. I tested the newest Adams Insight and Cobra L5V with middling results. A good friend who used to compete in long-drive competitions suggested I check out Nakashima drivers.

I decided to do a custom fitting session and after benchmarking my original driver and testing about 6 different head/shaft combinations (including Diamana and Fujikura), based on the computer numbers my distance jumped to the 290-300 range with spin rate around 2200-2300rpm. Launch monitors are not gospel, obviously, but encouraging nonetheless and I walked out with an Htec 460 9.5, Matrix Ozik XCON-6 shaft XS.

After three lengthy range sessions and one round in the books, I am happy to report the Nakashima/Matrix is thoroughly out-performing the TM not only in distance but accuracy as well. It could just be a honeymoon period but squarely hit drives are about 15-20 yds. longer.

For those of you looking to replace your driver, I highly suggest giving Nakashima a try. (No, I am not getting paid to post this...just a satisfied customer)
