A hybrid is a blend or an iron and a wood. Its got a shorter shaft like an iron, so its easier to control but it has a smaller head than wood and a rounded leading edge, so it cuts through the rough and sand better than a wood and because it has a heavier head than an iron, its easier for most people to get the ball up in the air.
All in all, if you arent playin at least 1 hybrid, you are missing out. I used to be a diehard long-iron player (carried 1-9 irons and a PW) but hybrids are just so much easier to hit well out of any lie that I dont miss my long irons.

I have a steel shafted nike ignite hybrid. The offset helps me to hook it though..

Anyways. I love my hybrid but find that it is easy to hook it.
