As you can see in my signature, I currently have a set of Adams Tight Lies Strong fairway woods - a 3 and a 5. They are nice clubs that I hit fairly well about 50% of the time, but I have a feeling that something with some updated technology would help me out a bit. I'm still a pretty high handicap (20-30 I'd wager).

I've hit the Ping G10 5 wood and liked it, and it'd match my driver and irons, but I thought I'd post here to see if there were any other clubs you all would recommend I try.

I should also mention that I'm thinking about dropping the 3 wood altogether, and instead going with just a 4 or 5 wood between my driver and the 21* hybrid I hope to pick up soon. I'll have a better idea of how well that will work once I get my irons and see what kind of gap I have between my driver and 4 iron, and if I'd rather have two or three clubs to fill that space.

I just ordered a Ping G10 17 degree 4 wood.

I'm finally replacing my 10 year old Callaway 3 wood. Hopefully this new 4 wood will do the job. All the demoing and fitting says it should, but only the scorecard will know for sure. This will be my first setup ever without a 3 wood, but for me, the numbers on the club is just a number, this 4 should actually fly further with more "love".

I also have an older Ping G2 7 wood. Money club. Love it!

For a long time I disliked Ping woods, their "i" series sucked (IMO). I am thrilled with the G series.

That 50% you're talking about, is it off the tee or off the deck that you're looking for improvement in?

Off the deck. I don't use them off the tee too often, but I do hit them nice and straight the majority of the time that way. These clubs don't get much loft on the ball regardless, they have a pretty low trajectory (stiff graphite shafts on both).

Mizuno F-60 from Rockbottomgolf.com.

Thanks for the tip, I'll see if any shops around here carry those. I'd prefer to hit something before I buy.

I'd say stick with your initial thought on the G10 then. I hit quite a few different woods before I bought anything. It was a very tough decision for me between G10 and the Dymo, and the Mizuno MX-700 was a close 3rd choice. All 3 seemed to get the ball up in the air almost effortlessly from the ground.

I am pretty dedicated to my Tight Lies fairway clubs. I currently use the Strong 3, 5, and 7 (old "Air Assault" models). The shafts are all Regular stiffness. When I hit them properly, they really do the job for me. The low trajectory on the Strong 3 works well on the short grasses we have in the Houston area (lots of roll). I have recently acquired a T.L. strong 9 and strong 11, but have not yet used them.
