Now, as in I only have twelve clubs in my bag, I am looking to fill my two biggest degree gaps. The gaps are 9* between my 3 wood (15*)and 4 hybrid (24*)... and 10 degrees in my Pitching Wedge (45*) and Sand Wedge (55*) (Buying a gap wedge)

My question is, In your opinions what would be a better club to fill my degree gap, filling the role of the occasional of the tee performance and long yardage fairway shots. A 21* hybrid club or a 7 wood?..

Looking for analysis in terms of ease of ball striking, shaft length, etc.

Thank you

p.s. - I hit my 4 hybrid around 195 off the tee, if that helps

I'd say get a 19* hybrid, and a 52* gap wedge.

Sounds like a Wilson Staff FYbrid would fit in there perfectly as it is meant to gap between your hybrids and woods. It's 19.5 degrees and 41 inches and I bet it becomes your go to club.

I recommend a 19 degree taylormade burner , its SUCH a good hybrid, Its amazing actually. I have a 20 yard spread between my adams 3w (200yds) and my burner hybrid (180 yards)

And for a gap wedge I personally recommend the CG Cleveland wedges, there just so good. I need the 52 for those also, I never owned a vokey so I cant speak which I like more but I see there very popular also

I went with a Adams Idea Pro 20* Hyrbrid 3 and an Adams Tom Watson 52* Gap wedge... (Hit those the best in the cage)

First day out with the new gear shot a personal best 42... Hybrid performed ok, hit 2 solid shots with it out of 3 (Third shot I used it off the tee, hit is strong but left it a little right)... Wedge was great, my first shot with it I stuck an 80 yarder for a kick in par (Ugly tee shot on a highly treed par 4 though)

Thanks for everyone's help!!!

Since it's about opinions, my vote definitely goes to the hybrid. To me, they are much easier to hit off the deck (I sometimes struggle with woods) and is a better option from the rough. Versatility, I guess is what it comes down to for me.

    • Terry - what a story…I’m about 12 yrs your junior but I do have friends in similar places of life. Like others have said - “go for it”.  The fact that you’re willing to challenge yourself in the midst of dealing with something like Parkinson’s is hero level stuff….looking forward to seeing how this great adventure plays out and make sure to get some of it on video as well.  Make them memories dude!
    • Played nine today. Just went out trying to make a swing that had the feels of what I am working on. I would give it a C- at best. The best swing came on the 9th hole, 220 yard par 3, downwind. I finally made a swing where I felt the pause, and the arms down stuff like I practice. I hit the 4 iron about 215 yards, it rolled just off the back of the green about 20-Ft from the pin.  I might play 10 yards shorter on every iron shot, and make that pause swing, cause I can still hit it about 90-95% the distance.  Distance wedges or 3/4 wedges are going to different. Shanked two of them today trying the pause, arms down stuff. Might spend a bit of time looking at the video on those shots specifically.
    • Day 350: good practice session today. Hit about 25 balls, working slowly on my priority piece. It looks decent in slow motion. Better at full speed but not quite there. Then putted for about an hour. Focused on putts inside 10’ but also did a stack putting session.
    • Two of my golfing Buddie's are left handed. I will play a couple of rounds and use their clubs and see how I do.  Played last Thursday and had the worst game ever. (Playing in really strong winds. (SW @ 20 to 30 mph with > gusts.)  Will let everyone know when I get back out. May not play until Monday.   Thanks everyone, for your encouragement.    Terry
