I am getting some Ping i10 irons soon and they come with the 46* PW. I would like 2 further wedges, and i currently have a 56 and a 60.

I was thinking about

46* , a new 54* , bend my 60* to 59*
all above, but new 53* instead
46* , a new 53* and bend 60 to 58*
my 46* pw to 47* , a 54/53 , then my bent 60 to a 58/59

If you think i have any other options for a 3 wedge set up, do comment.

Thanks

You didn't put an option for none of the above.

Keep the 46* PW, keep the 56 and 60 and add a 52*.

You're allowed to carry 14 clubs and according to your signature you only have 12 right now. Add a wedge, and then add a club for between your 5 iron and hybrid.

If I may ask, what are you doing carrying a 15.5* 3 wood and a 16* hybrid?

I don't think the options you suggest really cover progressive distances well. I think, if it were me, I'd be looking for a 52 degree gap, and a 58 degree mid to high bounce (for sand). I realise this doesn't use your existing wedges, but it does give you a nice 6 degree loft between each wedge option. I'd also keep your 60, particularly if it's low bounce to consider putting in your bag for a four wedge setup with a range of lob options with differing bounce (or if you're playing a course with hard or wet bunkers).

You might consider adding a 50 degree, or a 54 degree so that you could go:

46, 50, 54, 58

or

46, 52, 56, 60

I'm joking, that's akin to mental illness and only an idiot would do that (yes, that's exactly what I did, although my pitching wedge with my iron set is actually a 47).

In the bag:

Driver: 975D 10.5° True Temper EI-70 Stiff (Alternate 8.5° Titleist Stiff Graphite Shaft)
Fairway Woods: 975F (2 From) 14.5°, 18.5° True Temper EI-70 Stiff, 20.5° Titleist Stiff Graphite Shaft

Why add a 58* and keep a 60*? That's only like an 8-10 yard gap between clubs, if that.

He's already got a 56 and a 60, and I'd guess he's probably fairly used to using them, so I think completely revamping the wedge setup would kinda mess things up a bit. Adding a 52 fits that gap nicely and would complement the rest of his wedges without having to change anything else. I think he's got plenty of room to add a wedge, have a nice consistent gap between them and still have room to tinker with the long game weapons.

The reason I would consider a 60 low bounce and a 58 mid to high bounce, is for different bunker and ground conditions. I'm a bit mental when it comes to wedges. I've got one every two degrees of loft, just in case, between 50 and 60. I only put three in my bag at a time, but they are sometimes a different three.

I'm sure I said consider. I didn't say it was necessary.

Ah, fair enough. I still think you could stand to throw another wood or hybrid in there between your 3 wood and your Slazenger, but it all depends on how far you hit both of them.

Congrats on the new set, hope you enjoy them.

Ahhh... gotcha. It seemed like you were suggesting carrying 2 wedges two degrees apart in the bag at the same time.

Makes sense I guess. I like having the same wedges because they respond the same way, and I don't need to learn to hit a pitch shot with 6 different wedges, but that's just me.

I'd go with buying a 52* GW and just keeping the 56* and 60*. If you don't want to keep both, just keep only the 56* or bend one of them to 58* to be in between both.
