It wasn't that much. My pro shop discounted it $20 and I applied a $75 gift card for a net of $205. I paid $150 for my current putter and you can now buy it on ebay for $30 bucks or so. The Cameron feels and performs at least $55 better. Plus, I like the idea that it wasn't outsourced to China to reduce manufacturing costs to pad some executives wallet. I'll probably use my old headcover to reduce the chances of having it swiped while using the john at the course. I'm definitely not of the mind to care whether people think I'm a poser or not. Particularly because I didn't buy the putter for irrational reasons.

Congratulations on the new Scotty! I recently got a Newport 1.5 and love it. I really dislike when the Scotty haters try and turn the argument into a study in macroeconomics. As you've found, it really doesn't cost all that much more, and you'll step up to each putt with more confidence. If I look at the economics, I've got a couple grand wrapped up in driver + FW wood + hybrid + irons + putter + bag + GPS + shoes. The price difference between a Scotty and a run-of-the-mill putter is maybe 10% of this total cost. It just seems a false economy to focus so much on the price and not purchase based on what feels best to you, especially for the one club in the bag that is used more than any other and for which the "feel" is such an critical aspect. Enjoy the Scotty!

Very well may be...I'm not going to say Mr. Breed is wrong (I love that guy and the show), but I can only report from first hand experience. I didn't change my putting stroke and I could notice a big difference on how the ball rolled and felt off the putter. Imagination? Who knows...but whatever works.

I've got a little forward press (~2°) in my stroke. The Scotty's don't skid for me like that Rossa does. That's the main reason I am switching. The guy at Golf Galaxy said this is because when Scotty Cameron says 4° of loft, the really mean 'dynamically 4°, which is greater than 4° of static loft'. That sounds like BS to me, but I do think I need greater than 4° of loft to reduce the skid. And for whatever reason, the Scotty's do it for me.

    • I'm seeing Ben Griffin and Lexi Thompson, so… … that feels like a stretch. Need at least three others, IMO, to count as a "handful" and you need some names for me to care more than "Ben Griffin."

    • On the subject of teenagers in professional tournaments there is a kid (Kris Kim) who is a member of my club in England and is at my old school. He’s 16. He’s playing in the pga tour event in Texas this week. Shot 69 yesterday for T31 and is -2 today through 5 holes. T55 and on the cut line. I really hope he makes the cut. Will be awesome.    His dad I believe is a teaching pro and his mum was on the LPGA Tour for a while.
    • I have two contenders here that stick out to me: In second place, a putt to win the hole playing the 16th hole at Burnham and Berrow. Playing foursomes and the green has a big bank at the front then a flat bit and then it goes up again to a back shelf. My partner had hit our second shot onto the back shelf. We were 2up at the time and he was being a little wobbly so we didn’t want to lose the hole. Our oppo were conceded a 4 and my partner told me to just lag it down there nicely. 20 year old me meant to do that and failed. I hit it a bit hard and it was definitely going to clear the tier and probably run off the front of the green, but it hit the hole right in the middle and went in. My partner was very happy we won the hole but quite upset at my ability to follow instructions.    Number 2 is my most memorable. I was about 16 playing in the junior knockout at my club. We get to the 10th hole - long par 4 and index 2. I didn’t hit a very good drive, hit my second up about 60 yards short and pitched on to maybe 25 feet. I started walking and I got this feeling. I knew I was going to hole it. There was no doubt at all. I’ve never felt like that any other time in my life but this one putt was a certainty. It was February and the greens had been recently hollow tined so they were in awful shape. I didn’t even line it up. I hit my putt and it bumped and bounced all over the place until it went in the middle of the hole. If I could bottle up that feeling and sell it I’d be up there with Bezos and musk. Mind blowing!
