I've been running into an issue with my hybrid and am hoping someone can help.

If I hit the ball into the rough and end up with the ball sitting up in the grass and try and hit my hybrid I always end up coming under the ball and just popping it up in the air a bit (like 20 yards distance).

For the time being I've switched to an iron for these shots and save the hybrid for the fairway or a deep rough shot but was wondering if there is a good way to hit these from the rough.

In the past when I used the Callaway FT Hybrids I had this issue because the face was not very tall. At that time I just switched to hitting an iron. Since I changed to the Mizuno Fli-Hi CLK hybrids I have not had this issue. They have a taller face that is also not as long front to back. Of course the best fix is just to stabilize your body so you're not dipping into ball, but I combined that with a different hybrid and have done well.

I usually play it as if it were tee'd up and put it a bit forward in my stance.

Same hybrid as me :)

Guess it's a swing issue. Should I be just trying to sweep up on the ball since its effectively on a tee for me them?

The ball is also an inch or more closer to you (sitting "up" in the grass). Compensate by griping down an inch or so on the club. Play it a little forward in your stance too, as has been stated.

I make all my own clubs:
Driver: Snake Eyes Python XLD | | 3-Wood: Snake Eyes Python XL Faiway, 15*  | | Snake Eyes HT Iron Set, 3-, 4-Utility, 5-, 6-Hybrid, 7-PW Cavity Back | | Golfsmith G-40 Wedges, 52, 56, 60 | | Distance Master DM-AS2 Putter | |Ball? The last one I found ... that... was YOURS!!

I guess the best way to practice is with a short tee at the range so I can get used to the position. It happens often enough with my drives not being as accurate as desired.
